The Catholics also have Bonfires - in August.
Those bonfires celebrate the Feast of the Assumption, the day when the virgin Mary ascended to heaven, which is a rather benign reason compared to the Protestant celebration of the Battle of the Boyne.

Completely unnecessary act not unlike the Orange marches that seem to exist only to piss off their neighbours.
Utterly pointless on every level.
