Returning to PR on 7th August 07:57 - Jul 13 with 3091 viewsBeattie78

My wife has been shielding when advised to by the government. We're both double vaccinated but I feel uneasy about returning to PR in the circumstances. Does anyone else feel the same way?

I doubt the risk levels are the same for "outdoors" when in roads, parks fields, woods etc as for "outdoors" in football stadiums, particularly the more modern ones where there are no gaps in the corners for breezes to get through & help circulate air.

There's a pretty large open space in front of you, plus lots of other holes for air to exit by. I've seen reports indicating things like tunnels are almost as bad as being indoors, but nothing suggesting football stadiums are much different to any other outdoor space. The WHO's comments on the Wembley matches recently were largely about concourses, public transport hubs and people gathering to watch the game in places other than stadiums.

Isnt that where Blueaction are going to be? might want to move if closeness is a worry, it's gonna be heaving there.

Oh great - to be honest, the way I feel today, I may as well jack the ticket in full stop. I just wish we knew more facts about the virus, instead of a million "experts" and SAGE and WHO all contradicting each other, and a government who never seem to give clear advice. I have questions on all sorts of the tiniest things, that my anxiety is manifesting into real risks, like cleaning post/groceries/buying clothes... it sounds like I am going insane, and to be honest, feel I am. No point calling a GP - cannot even get a poxy blood test done at my surgery!

SAGE and the WHO have been pretty consistent with their messaging, it's the UK Govt going all over the place with their messaging.

If you have been double jabbed then at least console yourself that if you got infected then you would end up with a nasty cold rather than a hospital stay.

FWIW it seems to be rampaging around the country at the moment, most people I know are either have it, or are Isolating because they got pinged.

Hopefully by the end of August we will see cases drop dramatically as the people who run the ZOE app seem to think we have already peaked on the 3rd wave.

Yeah I think we're going through the herd immunity stage, so many known contacts have it currently compared to the last 2 waves.

Never be afraid to share your thoughts.

It's clearly the plan by the Govt, herd immunity via the back door.

Thanks to you and the other advice on here. I know people on here think I am a stupid person and if I feel like I do, to just hide at home - I am trying to take steps back out into doing stuff, starting with visiting my parents for dinner, and want to go to football and days out and have gigs to come too - maybe just doing these more and more will feel normal again, but no help when papers just scream out frightening headlines day after day. I try not to look at them, but cannot seem to avoid them!

Honestly Debs it's just do what you need to do for you, if you venture out, take your time, keep your own space and feel comfortable that you are taking your own precautions.

Prime example, I went to football saturday and a meal in the evening, for the football I didn't follow anyone in or out and kept my distance, when I went to the meal, I booked a table by the door so that I had regular air circulating around me etc.

Not saying to panic or anything of course not, just don't be afraid to get your life back at your own pace and your own way.

Never be afraid to share your thoughts.

No, we’ll still be in Section 6, just in the bigger block instead of up in the corner.
