Another gem last night was Ashton clearing up ChequeBook FC by confirming... 15:28 - Jul 30 with 6737 viewsunstableblue

.... the huge wage bill that had been expunged (sp?) from the club by getting rid of the old timers... Sears, Chambo, Skuse, Judge

None of our new players will be on their packages that's for sure!

Did anyone ask how much he and the cabal of backroom staff have added to the salary - and what if anything the chairman is doing and taking out of the club?

However you cut it there cannot be a reduction in the wage bill simply because so many players were out of contract. The flannel being pushed out by the man in the open neck shirt was taking into account 'loyalty payments' etc IF any of the old lags were re-signed. Don't forget the players in purdah - they too will be on some of the highest wages at the club.

It's a fresh start with a bunch of generally-looking capable players in a league devastated by Covid - all paid for by debt. Its a bit like chaging credit cards - all seems well for a while. But Cook didn't inspire much confidence with his isiocy last season - and will presumably revert to type IF things dont go as well as expected.

But a bit more honesty would be helpful in my humble opinion at these rubbish Q&A sessions

Wow! Yet another positive, happy post. What a joy you are. I just love your overwhelming optimism and laser like objectivity. I’m pleased you are back to banging on about debt and educating us with your supreme being objective analysis. I was beginning to miss that.

Anyway not long to your team’s start to the season. You must be hopeful of a better outcome this time around. On the ball City, joy of the Barclay end etc etc eh? Bet you can’t wait.
