Kwame Poku signs for Posh 11:56 - Aug 2 with 2318 viewsitfcjoe

Wouldn't have minded us having a good look at him - always frustrates when Col U sell a player to a team higher in food chain than us, especially smart recruiters like Posh, as they are the only club on our doorstep!

Think they are looking at Noah Chilvers as well

That was the rumour, alongside Poku. But Peterborough fans seem to think they’re more short in the DEFENSIVE midfield department, which sounds more like Wiredu.

Interesting to see how Poku gets on in the Championship. A wonderful player to watch, but much subdued in the grim struggle of last season. Three Colchester players at Posh now.

I think a role as an impact player in a good attacking side will help that transition - he didn't thrive under the spotlight last season when a fair bit was expected of him from the little I saw

How are you feeling about the new season for Col U? I chatted to a member of their coaching staff in passing the other day and they are very bullish that they can make a big leap forwards and contend......they weren't impressed with Mr Tisdale and his spell at the back end of last year

Huge outsider with the bookies, some offering 50/1 to win the league.

Is top 6 realistic though?

RIP Sir Bobby

Nowhere near 50-1 with any bookies I can see, currently 22-1 with Skybet (why do some posters simply make stuff up) they were 33-1 a couple of weeks ago.

With squad improvements (and further signings to follow) Col U should be comfortably too 10 with a reasonable chance of better than that if things click.

If you can get 1/4 odds for each way top three places then that’s very good value

Interesting what you say about Tisdale. Obviously, this is not how the spell was painted in official channels. (The new number two, Alex Dyer, seems to be very much of the Ian Craney mould - a 'good bloke' who can manage the players at a personal level.)

I'm always hopelessly over-optimistic, every August. I think most U's fans feel that Judge is a cut above league 2, and could be this season's Wes Hoolahan and really run the show. Young players will always get a chance, with Tchamadeu and Tovide the next ones in line I suppose, so I think there will be plenty of pace and power. (Personally I also hope we'll see a bit of Al-Amin Kazeem, because he seems like an interesting character.)
I'm a bit worried that Eastman, Smith and Chambers will all 'have' to play, meaning always a back five instead of mixing that with a back four.
With Senior, Brown, Harriot and now Poku all gone, the twinkle-toed aspect of the play will be missing. I hope some of the Poku money will be available to boost that aspect again, but generally it seems we're going to be more pragmatic. Luke Hannant has been signed from Cambridge after being one of their main men last year, and I guess Cambridge must be the inspiration. Whether Sears can get that number of goals remains to be seen. As I say, I'm always optimistic every year, so I'll say he can.

I just looked you weirdo!

Although looking now and 40/1 best price, certainly much better than your made up figures!

It’s a stupid thing to make up but you did, Col u haven’t been 50-1 since before pre-season matches started (if they even were at that point). I’ve placed several bets (including doubles with Ipswich promotion) over last 2 or 3 weeks and they’ve been consistently around 30-1 since Ex Ipswich players signed.

I believe that they will be signing at least 2 more attacking players which I suspect will drop odds again in near future

A week or so ago did the Ipswich , Col U double (each way) @188-1 (8-1 and 20-1 respectively) crudely that gives odds of circa 37-1 for both to finish top 4 which is generous I think

Yes, that’s correct, odds fluctuate, I backed them at 33-1 previously and today it’s 22-1 (all with skybet) . Grown ups understand odds change all the time, kids just make up stuff and demonstrate their stupidity with lies.

Regarding forwards, some rumours now that Colchester will put in a bid for Jackson, and also sign Theo Robinson. Some talk too of Akinde.
