in the pub last night and he told me about a preseason incident around 10 years ago. Ipswich had just signed the Hungarian goalie Marton Fulòp, who was super keen to impress his team mates.
As well as working hard on his catching, punching and distribution, Fulòp was keen to show off his ball skills, often taking the last 5 minutes in training to play in midfield or up front, such was his confidence with the ball.
Roy Keane, being Roy Keane was far from happy to indulge him in his unproffessional tomfoolery, but Fulòp was not to be deterred. Things came to ahead in a friendly match where Fulòp decided to take things into his own hands and swap postions with a midfielder for the first 5 mins to see if anyone noticed.
He found an accomplice, a newly signed and impressionable young winger from Bermuda, they switched tops and wondered if the watching press, management or fans would notice they were watching 'Marton dressed as Lambe'
