That there seems to be a lot of posters that are looking to win the internet, on both sides, which is a sad state of affairs considering we all collectively want the club to do well.

The majority on here are overjoyed with the result and the performance and long may that continue, but to have doubts, misgivings so far this season isn't unwarranted either.

I have said on many occasions I desperately want Cook to succeed, but also questioned his performances so far in his tenure here from day one, the two aren't mutually exclusive and to see posters jump on here with "How's the Cowleys looking now" "You Cook outers look silly" is painful to see.

Oh FWIW I wanted the Cowley's over Cook initially, and yes they are struggling and took a hiding last night, but given the investment between the two sides, it's not comparing apples with apples, I very much doubt Cook would be doing much better, or anyone for that fact with the players at their disposal.

It's so black and white on here, and sometimes, a lot of the time there is the grey area which is generally where the land lies.

What frustrates me about much of the negativity that has been prevalent on here is the inability to consider that for any club to be succesful, everyone needs to be pushing in the same direction and that includes the fans (and for the record I am not saying its the fans fault if we dont perform).

The relentless whining that we've had over the past few months comes from the same place (if not the same people) that booing the team comes from and its not helpful. To want the Manager sacked after 12 games into a new project - seriously? A guy with his record?

Cook may or not be the solution, but stirring up negativity only makes his job harder.

Perhaps that's the problem; half the fans are pushing in the same direction, the other half are pulling in the same direction.

Ps. good post, completely agree.

How many people have genuinely called for him to go though? It's not many. Blubbers, obviously, and Makin recently. One or two others perhaps. It's certainly not many though. The scale of voices calling for him to go is certainly smaller than that of those complaining about people calling for him to go.

And I imagine that for many they don't see us being 12 games in, Cook has had 8 months in the job and his record remains poor. Hopefully that will now change but not everyone is so willing to completely write off last season and I don't see why they should be brow beaten into doing so.

On the whole the support at games has continued to be very good, much better than it would have been at many other clubs after such a poor start from a new manager. That's where it counts, not in people expressing their views on a fan forum.

Makin? Thought he was berating anyone that said anything remotely negative?

Or did he turn face?

He turned after Cambridge. Might have done a 180 again after last night though. I get that those who lurch wildly are infuriating but I've been characterised as an 'Outer' despite not calling for him to go purely for pointing out that his record thus far is poor and needs to improve rapidly. I'd be delighted to see Cook succeed here.

Like I said in my OP, anyone that had doubts or misgivings or had worries about our patterns of play were instantly branded Cook outers, I never once stated he should go, but certainly had my concerns.

Surprised Makin turned, he's usually so partizan...

I mean, that just about sums Makin up. All throughout the summer he was telling us how everything was going to be 'fine' and yet a relatively poor start to the season and he's turned already.

Jesus wept.

Indeed. And yet people like myself, Joe, Hype, etc. were jumped on by him as being 'Cook out' months ago despite saying things haven't been great but he needs a bit more time to see whether he can turn it round or not. It's just blowing in the wind changing your mind like that pretty much game to game.

i've never posted anything good or bad about cook. but if i said he was the messiah, i would expect people ,who had different views to post saying he isn't or if i said he a clown and rubbish, i would expect people to post in his defence. its not about winning the internet. its different views
i think some posters were jarred of that people would post any little thing, to beat cook with a stick with. e.g. chambers was telling people cook treated him badly, another saying the team was pissed up in tongs, complaining about reid coming in, about his clapping befor a game or not after a game. the list goes on some of them are new posters , who are doing this so could be scum trolls.

I’ve already won the Internet.

But if anyone wants it, just give me a shout. I can loan it out for weekends.
