Owen Paterson - said he’ll continue working for the companies 22:13 - Nov 3 with 2396 viewsElderGrizzly

That caused him to break the rules on paid advocacy and lobbying

A reminder of what the inquiry said:

“No previous case of paid advocacy has seen so many breaches or such a clear pattern of behaviour in failing to separate private and public interests”

Well worth all the political capital used up

He still seems to think he is the victim in all this - how safe is his seat in a by election?

23k majority, I think.

Not that it'll matter to anyone there, of course.

To think he could have brazened out a 30 days suspension and might have got away with it.

This is unquestionably the right outcome, albeit achieved completely the wrong way.

I'm sure he'll survive on his various Non-Exec board roles he'll take up off the back of all this.

How he still thinks he is a victim in all this is beyond me.

Edit: Well his buddies are still sticking up for him and playing him as the victim, that's obviously why

He's resigned to avoid having the penalty lodged against him - it allows him to continue his ridiculous posturing.

A winnet on the arse of english politics.
