Apparently delegates representing the fossil fuel industry outnumber the delegates from any one single nation. Why are they allowing such a strong voice from those who are very much part of the problem? It seems rather odd and suggests that, for all the talk, we're going to end up with business as usual when all is said and done. |  |

They have a vested interest in maintaining the status quo for as long as possible so I'm not sure it makes sense for them to be there. Decisions relating to climate change need to be based on the science, not on the interests of the fossil fuel industry. | |

Yes, agree with that Herbs - though I don't have an issue with them attending....at the end of the day, you'd rather want them working with you on change than actively working against you.
The more you involve and engage with them, the more likely you are to be able to get them to change and the outcome we all need.
That said the new Cumbrian Coal Mine for the steel industry does rather, again, smack of rather stupid thinking and planning..... |  |

They are the people causing the problem, not the people who can help solve it. It's not in their interests for the planet to radically cut down use of fossil fuels. Those who can make that happen are political leaders, it shouldn't be a negotiation with the fossil fuel industry, it should be world governments setting clear red lines. | |

We're all causing the problem. Less demand would mean less extraction although at the same time it's very much in their interests to evolve into greener alternatives, which i'd hope is what this thing is partly involved in progressing. As for the political leaders, they were all invited... | | | |
