The impact of Covid on children 09:38 - Nov 16 with 2570 viewsElderGrizzly

1,000 a month hospitalised.

Of course, if you listen to the Government across the summer, kids aren't affected...

But you have previously stated you are double jabbed?

Correct. I have politely declined the offer of a jab for my 12yo.

With the median age of death with covid at 83, I'll take the risk thanks.

You mean your children will take the risk, however small it may be.

You're not taking any risks as you're vaccinated.

I know in the US, they were saying 98% of deaths in hospital were from the unvaccinated.

I haven't seen any stats recently for UK.

Of course, the more people who are vaccinated, the more likely those in hospital will also be vaccinated to some degree. This is currently the favourite 'statement' of the anti-vaxxers who are quoting things like:

"there are more people in hospital now who are vaccinated than unvaccinated".

You can still catch and transmit covid if you've been jabbed. Didn't you know that??

Yes you can. No-one denies that.

It's just that transmission is reduced significantly in the vaccinated.

If you completely ignore the context of his comment purely for argumentative purposes, yes he did.

Otherwise he was clearly referring to the risks the vaccine reduces across all ages.

We should do. Mine was one of the first in her school to be vaccinated. The benefit of her surname beginning with an 'A'.

Her class had a very poor uptake rate.

You mean your surname isn't Blue? Next you'll be telling me your first name isn't Glasgow.

is that right though? it doesn't seem consistent with the research reported here. this suggests that up to feb 2021 5,800 children were admitted to hospital on an emergency basis due to covid, of which 250 were admitted to icu, 25 died (of which 6 had no underlying health condition). the research concludes that the risk to children is extremely low. no one has said children are not affected, only that the risk to children is extremely low which seems to be supported by the research to date.

And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show
