Jean-Paul Sartre 21:50 - Nov 25 with 1667 views | DJR | It's all well and good having the supposed best squad in the league, and doing it on the training pitch, but the club's current predicament brings to mind the words of the French philosopher, Jean-Paul Sartre, namely, "In football every thing is complicated by the presence of the opposite team." Sadly, the great man is no longer with us but with wisdom like that he could no doubt do a great job alongside Peter Reid.

Well we've certainly been the authors of our own downfall.

What we really need is a Schrodinger's ball that in the mind of the referee is nestling in the back of our opponent's, rather than our own net. [Post edited 26 Nov 2021 2:52]

Or we could regard the net as the nucleus of a game, so surely one of our forwards could get one of the many electrons available to attached themselves to it to prevent a nil-nil. Too many hydrogen games with that single electron being attributable to the opposition nucleus. We don't need gel, we need fusion so that we can take some hydrogen and make our results helium from it. If Paul Cook doesn't get Gary Roberts into a lab coat and messing around with some test tubes in the technical area on Sunday then he has to go.

Sadly the days of Town being one of the game's Leviathans are long gone.

I'm sure Cookie would appreciate that plan B if you send it to him, seeing how bereft he is of any other plan B when we're 1 or 2 goals down.

Perhaps I should just send him a copy of Søren Kierkegaard's 'Either/or'? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Either/Or

'Existentialism is not nihilism: "Nihilism" is the belief that nothing matters. Existentialism is the attempt to confront and deal with meaninglessness...to not succumb to nihilism or despair: to not give up or avoid responsibility. For Camus, the entire purpose of Existential philosophy is to overcome absurdity, or, more accurately, for man to triumph over the absurdity of existence.' https://www.webpages.uidaho.edu/engl_258/lecture%20notes/existentialism%20quick% So Ewan_Oozami was almost correct, but we need Camus in the starting eleven. Who should be the manager? May I nominate Marcuse? He did a decent enough job at Stoke.

Well a bright spark is one thing but as a classicist I want to see a philosopher king in charge, so step up to the logical next career move Toto - and stay positive...
