Considering he's been in and around the club all season so far whilst not wanting to take a role, feels strange that he's now taken one a couple of days before PC was given the boot?
I'm not really sure what to make of it but he was brought in with a purpose wasn't he? A purpose that surely goes beyond being a caretaker manager for two weeks? Perhaps I am being presumptuous that it'll be him that takes charge on Tuesday. I guess we will find out more tomorrow. |  | | |  |

Think the amount he has been around the club has been overstated, was around at the training ground a few times at the end of last season. Not seen him at many games this season.
Wasn't so much that he didn't want to take a role, more than PC didn't want someone who was after a manager's job of his own and might be off a couple of months after taking on the assistant's job here. |

It’s handy that he’s on hand, coincidence or otherwise and there’s an element of truth in Joe’s suggestion that it’s his to lose.
Would we even be considering him if he wasn’t a popular ex-player who lived locally?
I seem to remember he was fair to middling at Col U, but did get them in the POs, which given they are one of the smaller clubs in the whole league isn’t too shabby.
Also seem to remember (and wiki backs me up) that he likes an attacking, free-flowing" football with a "fluid 4—2—3—1 system". He is able to work alongside a director of football or head of recruitment and work with and develop a young squad. (Quote from wiki) |  |

Sentimental reasons in the main I guess, plus ex-players will know the club, and will already have some credit in the bank with the fans. | |

A knowledge of and affiliation for the club.
There is always the risk that they could soil their reputation somewhat but we are not the only club for whom ex-players have managed reasonably successfully and far more so than when they have been elsewhere.
We need the right man whether they have links or not. |  |

Happy to have him as a stopgap. Happy to have him til the end of the season if that’s the better option and we get the right man in the summer.

I wanted Cook to go, so think that decision was correct but we can't say we've stopped the rot yet. We've not even had a full 24hours since Cook left let alone played a minute of football. |  |
