Johnsons clowning behaviour, his incompetence, lying and all round corruption were tolerated because he could get Brexit done. He would sweep aside obvious problems, overcome unsurmountable obstacles .... and get brexit done.
The only problem there, was .......... it was nothing more than false promises. More promises in a long line of claims that he would renege upon. Because what he promised could not be kept. Nevermind, it got him elected.
Unfortunately once the penny has now dropped, voters are none too pleased. Rather like finding out the casino is not there to make you rich. It has it's own interests. So, this is not an aberration. Not the ship slightly blown off course, but the inevitable consequences of half the country believing an habitual liar would not lie to them. History should have taught them otherwise. But history is not always a good teacher.
The magic has gone. And like many a divorcing couple so has the willing ness to overlook previous failings. Out of the woodwork will spring hitherto silent witnesses, former comrades and any number of those who have been slighted by him on his way up.
To paraphrase Churchill 'this is not the end, the is not the beginning of the end... but the beginning of what might be thought a long and enjoyable period of schadenfreude'
