Do you think we will buy Christian Walton? 12:17 - Dec 21 with 1193 viewsBluesky

Will he want to be bought? What do you think? He has saved so many games for us.

Really, really hope so - maybe there's more chance now, following KM's appointment? 🤔

Had we have been in the top 2 and looking pretty - maybe, but I doubt we'll compete with Championship suitors in our current position.

Can't see why Walton would have better offers on the table in January than he did last Summer?

Hi parent club seems to think so, so possibly has had some inquiries.

KM could be looking in other directions. It's a shaky one for all of our loan players including Bonne. They're another managers loan players at the end of the day, so there's always a risk that KM just doesn't fancy them.

Equally, there's a chance that Barry could come in.

Maybe, although I don't see Brighton being in a great position to rake in a good fee for him when his contract expires in the Summer.

From January any prospective suitors could just move directly to a pre-contract agreement to sign him for free in the Summer. Even if there is a suitor in a hurry, you'd have to get Walton to agree and he might have better options if he waits.

We also know that lower end Championship clubs have naff all money right now.

All smells like Brighton just want to squeeze us into paying a fee, as we're the ones who'd be most disrupted if they recalled him.

I think at the right price we would be silly not to, he's a very good keeper and only 26 lets not forget. With the exception of Sunderland away opening goal I can't think of too much he's got wrong. Good on crosses, good on 1-on-1's, good shot stopper. Kicking could be a little neater but on balance looks quality.

True, though it's to CW's advantage that he's settled & performing well here - a good sitting tenant is never to be dismissed lightly ...

Wages may be the issue with this one rather than fee.

Because with less time on his contract remaining, his value might decrease a bit more to garner a bit more interest from Championship clubs?

A Championship club could've had him in nets for just a loan fee in the Summer though, couldn't they? You'd need a club that developed an urgent need for a keeper during the season, as well as a lack of other interested clubs prepared to wait until July 2022.

Barry is no longer at the club is he? Not been at training or in any squad for months.
