The interesting thing about the Cook interview was 13:28 - Jan 5 with 4029 viewsFightingEssex

How he seemed to level the blame for the radical changes to the playing squad on Ashton, which is interesting given that he’d also given Norwood the impression he wasn’t calling the shots on who was played, sold or not. I don’t think Cook is dishonest either, I think he handled that interview very respectfully, but it’s interesting to see that the radical changes may not have been exclusively his decision after all. I also understood his frustration working with the new performance structure here.

Time will tell if it is Ashton calling the shots on transfers or not that’s for sure. It was a good interview.

If you didn’t hang around here you wouldn’t have seen it.

I don't have a problem with fans of other clubs posting on here about former players, staff from their clubs who might now he here.

Fully agree. Nothing wrong with different viewpoints from different clubs.

As a Town fan that reads 99% of the stories the eadt or TWTD wrote, how have I never read the name Ed Schwartz, or knew he was the majority shareholder.
Thank you for that piece of info

It's a bit of a funny set up really, but not in a bad way. Johnson, Detmer and Bakay must be the most publicly visible, engaged and well revered 1.67% shareholders in a football club in the world! Crazy to think between them they only own as much of the club as ME still.

I think he is a bit dishonest in that he's spinning a narrative, to make himself look better in the "shop window". Fairly understandable but;

1. He claims he had only 20 games here
2. He claims he had no control of his destiny
3. He claims he's had only 4 clubs

Ergo he wants to delete any negative context for the discussion. But I'm sure another Chairman will ignore all that and based on his prior record take a punt on him - and I hope that happens.

Yeah, he was very gung ho about all the changes he'd make, going as far as saying he couldn't care less if the whole squad walked out. He was planning to rip up the squad before the new regime came in and quite a few of the arrivals are players he's worked with before. Some people are saying this is Ashton's doing and he excluded Cook, but that narrative doesn't fit the evidence.

Cook: I Will Be Like Demolition Man Over the Next Six Weeks 16th Apr 2021 09:54
Town boss Paul Cook says he’ll be like Demolition Man over the next six weeks with the changes that are coming to Ipswich Town. 113

Reading the comments below the TWTD article, it looks like most people lapped up his gung ho attitude, but I thought at the time what he said was very disrespectful, and not really the sort of thing that should be said in this day and age. To my mind it showed a lack of class, and was completely out of character with the professionalism of the rest of the club following the takeover. Had he been successful I don't suppose it would have mattered but he wasn't with two squads.

For me, this Cook interview should be seen in the context of him looking for a new job. When it comes down to it, Cook and his staff are currently unemployed, and so if he wants to spin his time here in a positive light for himself, then as long as he doesn't lie or denigrate the fanbase - which he doesn't appear to have done - then i don't really think we need to go into much depth and challenge what he has said.

As manager, Cook blamed everyone else around him (especially the players). Why should it surprise us that he is now continuing to blame everyone but himself?
