Surely the idea of using a forum is to put forward your own ideas/views rather than just tick/downtick other people's.
It's not The Voice. (This analogy might not work as I've never actually seen The Voice, but I have heard of it).
So yes, he has a point doesn't he. If you follow a poster about downvoting them it does get a bit weird and stalkerish.
Next time you disagree with him, why not politely explain why.
Or just call him a **** like the rest of us. Just offer something, anything.
