Fun Fact: McKenna has won 2 home games this season. Cook won 4. (n/t) on 18:16 - Jan 22 with 1096 views | pointofblue | McKenna has overseen a comeback win in his fourth game in charge. It took until Cook's 32nd league game as boss to manage that feat under him, with the 4-1 victory at Wycombe this season. The 2-1 win over AFC Wimbledon in our first year down was Lambert's first comeback victory; his 35th league game as manager. Hurst's only win, at Swansea, was a comeback win; his 12th game in charge (of 14). One more - it took Mick until his seventh league game before claiming a comeback win, a 2-1 victory at Bolton.

Its more about high praise for McKenna - his first gig as a first-team manager compared to a relevant stat related to this season. Considering we've gone through 3 managers who failed to have a 'new manager bounce' - it's hardly a sin to be over excited. [Post edited 22 Jan 2022 21:22]

It lacks a lot of context though doesn’t it. You can’t praise McKenna without acknowledging all the good work done before he arrived from Ashton, O’Leary, Cook, McGreal and Dyer. They put some excellent foundations in for him to be able to flourish.

I am not, nor have I ever been, angry at Paul Cook. It is clear to see he got a fair bit right on the recruitment front. However, he didn't get very much right on the game management front. This is where the relevance comes into play by comparing both managers' fortunes. I do think there is something in the notion that Cook was much better with Liam Richardson - I mean, 4 games in hand and top of the table with a team that needed a lot of work isn't a fluke. That isn't to castrate Cook, but I do think he was missing a vital part of his team.

Like the keeper, who saved us from losing today, brought in by Cook. That'll be forgotten by some though.

Possibly. Watching Wigan the other week they looked very functional whereas Cook’s sides are very fluid. Maybe that balance between them was what brought their success together. Functional definitely trumps fluid in this division hence the reason they’re top. Here’s hoping they start dropping points because if Sunderland win the league and City, Fulham and Forest Green hold their nerve, my accumulator will come in at £3.8k!

He’s much better than the other keeper brought in by Cook isn’t he.
