"fraser sold for a profit" 17:21 - Feb 1 with 1092 viewspositivity

got me thinking, who's the last player we sold for more than we spent (not including freebies or youths)?

do we have to go back to garner/waghorn?

I highly doubt he's been sold for a profit. Transfer fee may be higher itself. But we'd have paid out in settling frasers contract anyway.

Imo.

I thought we paid £750k for Fraser? So not sure how £500k is deemed a profit.

Settling Frasers contract?

Unless its been stated, I don't see any reason to suspect that.

He would be a high earner, but I doubt out of reach for Charlton.

No one knows what we paid, but most reports in EADT suggest a profit.

£750k could have been the max value after future add ons.

The total value could have been 750k, but only if all the add-ons were triggered. Given he was only here six months, I suspect that only the initial payment has been made. So, something like, paid £450k, £300k add-ons now lapsed, so £500k fee received gives a small profit.

It does assume that we get the full £500k fee from Charlton.

Possibly Waghorn?

We did well on Webster, Mings and going back a bit Creswell

To be fair to Evans, he did resist a £7m bid for McGoldrick who then left on a free.

Also rejected a decent bid for Jackson, although I'm not sure that would have been profit territory.

I would think there would be add ons in our fee, which would be largely unmet. If I had to guess I think we probably paid c. £500k and got broadly that back. Not sure why we would need to settle his contract, I'm sure Charlton are capable of matching the wages he was on here. I expect we broadly broke even on him (excluding the wages he earned whilst here) if I were a betting man.

Leicester offered £5m for McGoldrick & apparently Evans asked for £8m, presumably because Mick didn't want to sell him. While we cheered at the time, £5m would have been good business as he only played about half the games in each of the next 4 seasons.
