Thought about it but decided. not to as oit doesn't support the full apple tv app. Just the lite version, so you can't access your library. Just stream their own stuff.

Hey now, hey now, don't dream it's over

I don't think it'll be long before Sky produce a box that will work with all TVs. I spoke with an engineer some time back and he said they'll phase out dishes but they'll need a solution that will work with all TVs as some people insist on specific brands. I don't know how that TV rates, or even who makes the screens as they won't be doing it themselves.

If you liked my post, please take the time to upvote it. It's very much appreciated.

It's sounds ideal for convenience. No Box. Less wires. No need for surround sound etc. I think the TV itself is made by the team behind Phillips tvs.

I think I'll give it a go. Worse case just go back to sky q if it doesn't do what I hope lol.

I have a friend who works for Sky and when I asked him about Glass a while back, he said that it got a pretty poor reception from Sky employees when it was announced and demonstrated internally.

I was thinking about it. My bro in law has one but is not that impressed with the colour and you have to be sitting pretty straight on to get the best from the colour.

Sound is meant to be really good.

I dont think I would swap out my LG TV for one.

Number 1 daughter and son-in-law to be have just done it.
They love it, but I say its sh1t.

Picture quality is awful from what I've seen, but they have generally poor WI-FI which is probably the cause.

does this means sky reception will be over broadband or does it picks it signal up like a mobile phone ?

I don’t even know if you can watch live telly on it? I think it’s all streaming only.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

Over broadband.. can either go via WiFi or Ethernet.

Quite handy as recently upgraded sky WiFi so should work well.

Oo interesting. I know you can't record like sky q. But hadn't thought about normal programmes. That would be a bit odd.

We changed over a few weeks back, we have FTTP broadband, and the picture quality is amazing.

Sky also allow you to have a Sky Puck (dumb name), but essentially these replace the Sky Q and allow you to use Sky on any television obviously streaming the same way.

The biggest gripe for me is with the Sky Puck, as they can take a while to turn on, or just not turn on at all, apparently newer firmware will sort this, as well as them changing all of the channel numbers.

Something to bear in mind is there is no record functionality - so if you use this on Sky Q, then that goes, but for me it was a saving on my Sky Q deal + you get the devices, and there is no contract (other than the TV) they are all rolling 31 days.

Thank you.

How have you found the sound quality. Does it do what you'd think it would?

Also. Have you connected via WiFi itself or do you still use Ethernet into the glass tv?

We had a Sky Soundbar before which we now don't need and I'd say the Glass has better quality than that, the range and dynamics seem a lot better.

I'm using everything on WiFi, we have BT Fibre at 990Mbps, and a number of BT WiFi dishes across the house and so far everything seems really good, I was pleasantly surprised actually to see one of the Sky Pucks quite happily stream Gangs of London in Ultra High Definition without any issues (that's with other things streaming etc. too).

From what I've read, I think the key is good WiFi and broadband - if we didn't have Fibre to the Premise, I don't think it would work, ironically we had Sky Broadband Max before and that barely coped with my boys streaming YouTube!

I had a look at this when it was first advertised, all I will say is do your own research and look at the pros and cons.

Personally I would not lock myself into one provider. Sky glass for me would be great for apartments, small homes etc. However really reminds me of the decades ago debate between hifi systems and separates. Hifi systems would do the job but if you were a real audiophile separates were much superior.

So if it was me, I'd invest the money into a top end TV, surround sound system and stay on sky q. I bought a Nvidia shield pro 2+ years ago and it is fantastic, prime video/Netflix,Disney+ etc. Kept my old sky HD box for sports although not UHD. Saved the money and invested in a 65inch UHD TV...

Sky Glass definitely is a great option for some, but as some numpty crashed into the fibre cabinet across the road last weekend I was super glad I kept the satellite TV alive.

Sky Glass, not for me personally could be amazing for you.

Edit: No recording would be a major no no for me. Seeing as between my missus and daughter they can fill the old sky HD box with crap each week. If Emmerdale is missed all hell breaks loose.
