1 goal, 2 assists, a few more key involvements in important goals (Wycombe, the 1st at Gillingham, Doncaster) since McKenna's come in. He's making plenty of contributions, even without goals.
Pigott's had 11 starts for us, including 4 out of 5 games at the beginning of the season, many starts against very poor teams. plus 7 more decent cameos. You get an extended run in the team because you earn it and he hasn't. No-one is going to give you 3 games to get warmed up. [Post edited 9 Feb 2022 14:29]

I mean, there is a very good possible reason that was publicised a few weeks ago re his personal life. Without speculating too much, he's not the same player he was 3/4 months ago at the moment and he does seem to have been taken out of the spotlight somewhat by the club in terms of interviews etc too. Let's cut him some slack and get behind him, he's one of us and for me still our best centre forward. |  | | |

No, I said he was involved in the goal (the assists were the 2nd at Gillingham and the 2nd against Wimbledon).
It's good movement to get on the end of Chaplin's header and if you're getting a shot on goal that the keeper can't save in a controlled way then you're making a contribution to our attacking play. It's all useful for the team, just like tap ins are. You were there, you read the play, you put it in the net, even if there was no skill in the final touch. | |

He's lovely to watch, so good on the ball and his decision making is excellent. Brings that calmness and bit of experience to things, technically really good, he's been a very good addition. It's obvious watching him that it's a guy who has spent his whole career at a better level than this, quite significantly better for a part of it in the not too distant past.
I think the fact he's 32 and seen as a bit of a journeyman skews peoples opinion a little. The fact is while time isn't perhaps on his side football wise, his contribution has been excellent when called upon. If he was called Andre Dozzell people would be creaming themselves over some of the performances. |

Kind of agree, he is such a smart and experienced player, he does help knit midfield and attack together better than anyone. But all 3 Celina, Aluko and Chaplin have their strengths. Chaplin works so hard for the team and is chipping in with goals, handy when the strikers are not prolific. Celina has such ability that can turn a tight game. Good position for KMc to have, he can lay the combination for the kind of game he expects. I don't think we will have as much of the ball against MK Dons as we have in the past 3 games so I would have Celina for his brilliance and Aluko as he uses the ball so well and does not often lose it or misplace a pass. | | | |
