Police Fed demonstrate the denial of your average copper... on 18:15 - Feb 14 by Oldsmoker | "...cleaned up the image of the Met..." There's a difference between the image and the actual. She made it look cleaner rather than actually clean it. She polished a t*rd. |
Quite, hardly cleaned up is it? State of it.

Police Fed demonstrate the denial of your average copper... on 15:28 - Feb 14 by bluelagos | Annoys me when people say she has integrity. If she had one once of integrity she would have resigned over the killing of JC De Menezes 16 years ago. And she walks with £500k pay off and £160k a year pension for her numerous failings. |
160k pension!! Glad I’m not paying for it…. Oh wait… The Met just needs completely dismantling and rebuilding.

Police Fed demonstrate the denial of your average copper... on 16:12 - Feb 14 by blueasfook | Were you there in person? Did you see for yourself how it all went down? If not, then all you have to go on is selected media footage. |
Quite a few of us were on here on the night in question watching live streams. You are sooooo W I D E of the mark on this one. Which makes me sad because you have been very funny in your darts onto the forum in recent weeks.
Police Fed demonstrate the denial of your average copper... on 21:29 - Feb 14 with 564 views | Coastalblue | I deal with Met police officers daily with work and I have to say here that while there are the odd complete tools the overwhelmingly huge majority come across as decent people doing a difficult job in often extremely trying circumstances. No way I could put up with what a lot of them do on a daily basis. Think about the recent threads about our own 'special' part of our away following and then imagine having to deal with these people every day, be polite to them as they film you. The Met has some major issues, there's no getting away from that and most coppers would concede that in a private moment but that's no reason to tar all the decent people that are the majority of that organisation with the same brush. As a whole the Met has come a long way in the last 3 or 4 decades but still has a very long way to go. As somebody else said, what it needs is a charismatic and inspiring leader who's not afraid to make hard decisions and admit to mistakes, both personal and those of the organisation. I actually believe most of the staff would welcome that, and hoefully those that won't will find themselves without a career.

I would settle for an uncharismatic, boring leader who is prepared to be honest. But, of course you are (mostly) right. The vast majority of Police officers join up because they are decent people and want to protect the public. I have genuine friends who are Police Officers, as is one of my cousins. The problem is that there is a culture, which goes back decades, of toxic masculinity at the least, with elements of corruption and racism thrown in, all gathered up in a big, protective blanket of "if you dare say anything about this then we won't come to your aid when you are being stabbed in an alley." So the idealistic "I'm going to change the world" now recruits learn and adapt, and over time turning a blind eye to the "justifiable" becomes turning a blind eye to whatever you have to turn a blind eye to, to get through the shift, week, month, year, career. As Lagos says above, it's just like the Mafia and the code of silence, Omerta. And the Met are the biggest gang in town.

The culture of Omerta is why I refer to them as instiutionally corrupt. If you are silent and turn a blind eye, you are complicit in that behaviour. As you know, Couzens was known by his colleagues as "The rapist". There are also questions about him flashing and the failure of the police to properly investigate that (with the iopc) so sure more will come out.
