Averaging exactly 2 points per game under McK…. 09:41 - Feb 27 with 1204 views | ITFC_Forever | Bang on track for 75 points…. It would be very unlucky not to get in the POs with that points tally.

I think we would like to play a higher team at present as our play is strong.., on 09:53 - Feb 27 with 1112 views | unstableblue |

… and we’re just struggling against these lower teams packing out their defences Our defence is good and we just need a bit more space around the opposition box Bring on a stronger team I say

Decent point away to Wigan. Should have been MK twice. Should have beaten Oxford. Should have beaten Sunderland at least once. We’re not exactly far off them.

No, but the implication was we weren’t as good as them. The fact most of those were draws shows we are.

I think we are progressing as a team though. I'm pretty confident we'll beat a few of the teams above us in the run in.

But we could say that about other games we’ve had? Everton gave Man City a fight yesterday, but they still lost 0-1. It doesn’t matter if we are close or not we haven’t been able to get the job done. [Post edited 27 Feb 2022 12:14]

It matters depending on what question you're asking, doesn't it? If the question is "how good have we been at beating top 6 teams this season" then you're right it doesn't matter how we performed, we didn't win, end of discussion. If the question is "how likely are we to win the games we have left this season" then how those games actually unfolded is very much relevant, isn't it? Based on the first time round I think we should be confident about our ability to beat Wigan, Oxford and Plymouth, none of whom were markedly superior to a lesser version of Ipswich Town.

When it comes to scoring goals, Cook's team wasn't a lesser version, in fact the opposite. We've gone forward with conceding and backwards with scoring.

Cook's team won fewer points, it was a lesser version. (FWIW, whilst we're not yet seeing the goals, IMO our general attacking play is better now than it was under Cook and we'll see the fruits of that soon enough)
