"Treating" my mrs to a weekend in Ipswich for the Pompey game. Staying Friday and sat nights. Haven't had a night out in the town for ages, apart from the marina area what are the best places for drinks and food?

cheers

If you can get a booking at Trongs (Chinese) or Zaika's (Indian) then they are well worth trying. Both are in St.Nicholas Street which is between the ground and marina. Also in the same street is The Grill at 25 which does decent tucker

The Wolsey pub is also in the same street and worth a visit for a good selection of beers.

The Greyhound has a reputation as a matchday pub but it's a great venue any day of the week.

Mizu good for a casual meal

Tavernetta for some proper Italian food with K Bar and/or Thomas Wolsey only over the road for a few drinks.

I had a lovely meal recently at Mariners (the floating restaurant that used to be Il Punto). You will need to book though.

Agree with the earlier recommendation of Trongs, it's always excellent there.

Bit disappointed you didn't add a few accents in there to go with the 'moire'.

"I am moire zan 'appy to recommend zis plass" or something.

Blimey keno, a simple ‘thank you’ to the chef would’ve done.

I tell you what, looking at that page, they're a bit slap dash there aren't they?

The chef's spilt turmeric everywhere and someone's knocked over a glass of red and just left it.

I mean that's going to stain someone's sleeve for a start.

And again no one's even bothered to cook that tagliatelle. It's just coiled up from a packet with a tomato shoved in the centre. It's like a toddler has seen Masterchef and tried to copy it.
