.....Norwood were ditched? I know some are "fans favourites" and it would be a shock, but it's just not really happening for any of them consistently. The whole attacking midfield and strikers create and score zilch. And it hasn't improved under KM, if anything it's getting worse. The six game form table paints a grim picture, three goals and wallowing in the nether regions. Not having a dog at KM, he's been brilliant, a breathe of fresh air but "up top" we are simply not functioning. [Post edited 17 Apr 2022 7:28]

All depends somewhat on wages freed up vs the targets we need but I would definitely keep Celina, Chaplin, Aluko. Chaplin scored 8 ? This season which is decent considering how in out of the side he is, Celina has been up and down but not surprised considering lack of pre season and cardiac issues, definitely found his mojo in a lot of the KMC games, Aluko is class at this level and clearly a good guy to have around, would think he is relatively cheap as well.
Norwood, Piggott and Bonne surely had enough chances.
KmC may want to switch formation a bit, yesterday second half was crying out for extra proper midfield bodies to win and retain possession and link up play, we have been pretty toothless for a while now. Positive is our back 4 and Burns are quality and a very solid base to build from.

It wouldn’t be a surprise no. I’d like to keep Bersant and Chaplin myself but I can see the thinking if they decide to not go for the former and look to move on the latter, who I think will attract a lot of interest. |  |

No, but I'd keep Chaplin
I'd like to see McK adapt a bit to how to get out of this league , but assuming he sticks to his preferred way,... isn't it ironic that he'd have loved to have the pre-Cook Ipswich team + Burns.
He's reinstated Woolfie, Norwood and Jackson who were out in the cold, and with the likes of Downes, Dozzell , Wilson, and prob Bishop for squad as well, he'd have been v happy
All the 'best squad in the league' stuff at start of season is now shown to be pure hype, as only 1 Town player, Walton, would make even a short list for the League 1 Team of the Year
But if some good signings next season we should be right in the mix with the top 7-8 teams, but no silly 'walk it' expectations, and see if McK's way of playing can compete with the good 'direct' teams - should make for some fun watching
If only (as we often say in football) we could have got McK instead of Cook at the time, especially as it appears Gamechanger weren't really sold on Cook, and had their eye on McK |
I think we have dealt with direct teams quite well. Yesterday 2nd half we didn’t quite clearly but I don’t think we’ve been too bad.
I think we need to free up the players to shoot outside the box more, our crossing has to improve and be quicker in and around the box with our movement and ball retention. If we do that I think we will be more of a threat.

It would surprise me if Aluko and Chaplin aren’t here next season. Aluko brings a wealth of experience and even if he isn’t starting every game he’s a great player to have around the place. And I think Chaplin could be far better used with a decent striker in front of him and he seems to have been well integrated into the club on the off pitch side of things. Celina will depend on money and whether KM wants to continue with the current system or change the formation and way we play.

Agree with this. And with Guthrum too. Chaplin and Aluko are definite ‘keepers’ (not to play in goal keepers!), the rest to move on. I’d add Simpson to that, if he wants away. Celina? Well he’s got a lot of class for this level and if the money is right and he wants to stay, keep him.
Bakinson? Youth is in his side and there’s a player there and I think I’d keep him unless we can find or bring through better. Thompson? Well the defence has not been a problem and he’s part of that. On the other hand, I wouldn’t move heaven and earth to keep him.
I maintain the view I’ve had for some time now. We are not a million miles off. We can see where the weaknesses are that for me kind of proves it. Over optimistic? Maybe but I think we are light years away from this time last year in all but league position. A long way from the surrender brigade that got us relegated with ease too. At least Derby are giving it a go. We were on the beach in September.
An absolute must is a dead ball taker and somebody that can get in the end of it now and again. As KM said, 25% of goals come from free kicks and corners. We offer nothing in that area at the moment.
It sounds a bit weak, but a proper pre season will help KM and the team enormously. A real break and a reset with the majority of the players, everyone settled. |  | | |

It would be not only surprising, but alarming, too. Another massive clear-out is not what this team and club needs. Would smack of someone who has run out of training inspiration and tactical ideas.
In any case, we're creating plenty, just failing to convert that into goals. |
We are not creating plenty - far from it. We create very few clear cut chances. This puts the pressure on when we do get one, which is then invariably missed.
We are 14th in the division for Expected Goals scored, at 1.38 per game. Rotherham, Sunderland and Oxford all around the 1.8 mark. So they are 'expected' to score around half a goal a game more than us. A huge difference. I am not defending our strikers - but they are feeding off scraps in many games.
