Interesting medium length read from Jeremy Bowen:

BBC News - Jeremy Bowen: No sign of a quick peace dividend for Trump in Ukraine

The end of paragraph just before the first photo about some armoured vehicles flying the red Soviet flag instead of the current Russian flag is interesting, division in the ranks ? And the long retired Soviet officer living in Ukraine who believes that giving into Putin is the worst thing to do.

I don't think the Soviet flag indicates division in the Russian ranks, it's a knowing nod to the fact that the land that they are invading used to be part of one Union of Republics with Russia.

Goes with Pootins narrative of resurrecting the Soviet Union, which one of his minions claimed last week that it had not been disbanded legally🙄

Nice one Ukraine. 40 bombers destroyed and two bridges blown up, all from inside Russia apparently.

Even if you assume over claiming on Ukraine’s part and they only destroyed a half a dozen Russian aircraft, that’s a big slap in the chops for the old mass murderer and some achievement by ingenious Ukraine. Starmer could do worse than recruit a few Ukrainians to teach the U.K. how to do it - if we have the money, of course. Drone warfare is a real game changer

I expect that animal Putin will be lobbing even more missiles and drones than usual at those poor people in the next few days. I see Russia is building up for a large scale offensive in the next few months, presumably in an effort to smash Ukraine.

What do we make of this ?

'President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a bill that critics say weakens the independence of Ukraine's anti-corruption bodies, sparking protests in several cities and drawing international criticism.

The new law grants the prosecutor general control of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (Nabu) and Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (Sap), and critics say it undermines their authority.

In an address on Wednesday, Zelensky said both agencies would still "work" but needed to be cleared of "Russian influence".'

A perhaps predictable but still disappointing addendum to this story:

'False online claims have been going viral after Ukraine saw its biggest wartime protests last night.

Among those promoting misleading claims was US Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, who’s long opposed sending aid to Ukraine.

In a post that has now been viewed over 1m views on X, she claimed it was President Volodymyr Zelensky’s refusal to “to make a peace deal and end the war” that sparked the protests.

In fact, the protests have nothing to do with Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. People in several major cities took to the streets last night to protest against a new law curtailing the powers of anti-corruption bodies.'
