Harsh on Northampton. on 19:20 - May 7 with 1888 views | MattinLondon | If I listened to the radio correctly then it’s quite scandalous towards the Cobblers. Scunthorpe picked seven teenagers, including an 18 year old captain A 17 year old keeper who was making his debut plus a second year scholar making his debut. An average age of 19. You can argue that it’s down to the Scunthorpe manager to pick what he considers to be his best eleven. And if the match in question was a dead rubber then I would agree. But it wasn’t, it had implications towards the promotion race. If something similar happens at Scunthorpe’s expense then they shouldn’t expect no sympathy at all. [Post edited 7 May 2022 19:21]

Wasn't there a rule about making such changes in football so that the competition is fair to all. ( think it was wolves once who got fined for team changes? ) [Post edited 7 May 2022 19:23]

Yes, Mick picked a weakened team at Old Trafford (not for the last time) because they were playing Burnley in midweek. They lost against Manchester United, beat Burnley, were fined, but stayed up.

Harsh on Northampton. on 11:30 - May 8 with 1190 views | TrumptonBlue | The Scunthorpe team yesterday was not much different from the one they have been putting out in the last few weeks, when they have drawn with Hartlepool and Stevenage and lost narrowly to Bradford. There were no debutants. One player (Oliver Lobley) was making his league debut, but he had played previously in the Pizza Cup; the goalkeeper played last week. There was experience in the team, including Joe Nuttall, who always likes to score against us, and Town legends Luke Matheson and Liam Feeney. Certainly it was a young side but Keith Hill has been experimenting since they were relegated, and a little bit before then (and why not - the experienced players have had a disastrous season). Yesterday's line-up was nothing unusual in that context.
Harsh on Northampton. on 11:33 - May 8 with 1180 views | ITFC_Forever | They’ve been playing the kids for several weeks now, so Northampton have nothing to moan about…. It wasn’t as if they only picked that kind of line-up yesterday.

Luke Matheson ... Oh dear, what a come down for him. Such a prospect when with Rochdale a couple of seasons ago. I always liked him and was disappointed he didn't get more of an opportunity with us.
