Can you give any context for that? How long had those fans been kettled behind locked gates - an hour? 2? more? And fewer than half of them were wearing red shirts.

I should have been clearer. The French random (which they were) told me that the French media was questioning the official line can calling it out. Their comments to me was based on the French news rather than their own impression.

Cracking little phone in on LBC about this now with eye witness statements.
Sadly the stereotype around Liverpool fans constructed in the aftermath of Hillsborough by The Sun / West York’s Police, etc., has stuck. It’s not just lazy to repeat that stereotype, it’s ignorant.
Sure there will have been some twots around, as there always are with football crowds. We have them. Most clubs have them. Most accounts from Paris though point to a catastrophic failure of organisation and rough handed policing. |  |
