The fallout is beginning from Paris 10:14 - May 30 with 7681 viewsbluelagos

Interesting sat in Paris about to board the Eurostar home. Chatting to a French passenger who has told me there is increasing pressure in France to investigate the organisation and policing of Saturdays match.

There is an acceptance that the Uefa lies and those of some French politicians was untruthful and that many innocent people were assaulted by violent police.

Those who chose to tarnish the fans, who go for the "why always LFC?" type comments are increasingly looking like the pathetic prejudiced morons they are. Still, if the cap fits...

Also experienced loads of locals who had got in via dodgy means in Marseille for the Russia game in 2016 - stewards and police didn't care about them but were happy to tear gas and baton English fans (who had already taken a hiding from the Russians in the day before!).

Happened on Saturday.

My girlfriend's Dad was there, with a ticket (before anyone asks). Queued for 2.5 hours, got tear gassed, and only got in just before HT.

It really is sad when the go-to response is "here we go again" when it comes to Liverpool fans. Nothing like good old fashioned bigotry to get in the way of facts, regardless of what you think about some Scousers' anti-Englishness (can you blame them?).

If it went the way it appears and the British media and fans are suggesting:
Liverpool and RM should Sue UEFA for failing to protect their supporters,
France should be banned from holding international events,
European finals to be played over two legs home and away

Should England also be banned from holding events?

TBF, The only time I have done it was Ipswich vs Bolton in the P/O semis. Couple of the players seemed to be up for it and wanted to join in. George Burley was another story, he couldn't get the players off of the pitch fast enough.

It is important to point out, had I not moved onto the pitch I would have been rolled over and trampled (Section 5, North)

Highly unlikely that there is pressure in France to investigate, with all due respect, one random on the train isn't going to be representative of the nation as a whole. No one will give to s***s about it, why would they its an English team and especially 'that' English team.

But you do pose an interesting question why is it always them, personally I despise them with every fiber as should most people of a certain age who remember them playing a big part in getting English teams banned from European football. As badly behaved as Chelsea/Rangers or whoever are when they hit the foreign larger this sort of thing happening is just a recurring theme with them. Clearly there is an issue with their fans storming fences, fake tickets and turning up without tickets, Andy Robertson interview makes interesting reading and supports one of these at least.

Never mind regardless of the findings from UEFA the same wont be accepted in this country and everyone in the media will pander around them like they always do.

Not really, no. It was all-seater for the Bolton game.

Remember the NS3 sign being taken from the corrugated iron behind me at the end of the 2000-2001 game, just prior to the old NS being demolished.

Section 5 and all that didn't happen til the re-build.

Never happened at Wembley did it?
Anybody think it might be, stewards on minimum wage, untrained, why would I get involved.
Plenty of people ( mainly from the right wing) believe football supporters should get a good hiding.
It doesn’t happen at the tail gate parties in Twickers does it?

Careful, they hate the government and boo the anthem so you might upset a few on here with that talk! ;)

There’s the odd social media post doing the rounds of blag tickets and a few boasting about blagging their dad in etc but the odd example of that might do a lot of retweets of course. The Liverpool end seemed rather busier in the aisles than the other end but then we hear a lot of mentions of locals also getting in. After Athens about 15 years UFEA gave a similar story (which some footage at the time seemed to verify as slightly more accurate) so some people will jump to their own conclusions, that happens, just like it does when the more innocent English fans get caught up in stuff abroad.

From reports on the ground it does seem they were treated rather awfully. If 95% + of those people outside had tickets then it’s really a disgrace what went on. By the looks of things Liverpool fans actually behaved well if what is being reported is true.

I’ve not been to that ground but it doesn’t look like good accessibility, basically surrounded by busy roads and a metro in the distance with a load of bottle necks.

I personally can’t stand Liverpool, the media obsession, the manager, every other American “EPL” fan and my old Uni roommates, all exhausting! But obviously not on for the loyal fans that went to experience anything that and bloody dangerous.

Yeah I suspect they are held in such high regard around the rational thinkers of these here parts (the TWTD message board) are for those 2 points you made in the first para!

You're right though the ones who suffer with the behavior of the minority (albeit a much much higher minority of any other British club) are the innocent fans that just want to go and watch the football.

I should have been clearer. The French random (which they were) told me that the French media was questioning the official line can calling it out. Their comments to me was based on the French news rather than their own impression.

Just to reinforce that, have just seen this.

I've been to a few England games in France, including Euro 2016 and some of the Policing on show there was an absolute disgrace, especially towards England fans. I said as much at the time on here and numerous people took the 'probably deserved it' stance. I can see where that came from given the reputation of drunken England fans abroad, and no doubting there probably were some who did, but I witnessed first hand many, many innocent supporters treated like cattle. The default position was one of violence, like they were policing maximum security criminals. People dragged by their collars, pushed and shoved, the Police were very heavy handed towards people that were literally in a queue minding their own business. It was disgraceful.

I went to France V England in 2000, friendly when France were reigning Euros and world cup champions. It was a night game and travelling through that part of Paris was distinctly intimidating and unpleasant.

We didn't have any trouble but I can't say I'm ever in a rush to go back there. There is definitely an element of the local youth population that comes out, looking for trouble or just to rob people.

Access to the Liverpool end from the RER is through a narrow underpass, where the bottleneck occurred. I'm sure the French will simply stick to their "ticketless fans gate-crashing & fake tickets" story, rather than take responsibility.

I heard reports on R5l late this afternoon that there were pretty horrendous events after the game too - basically, large numbers of local youths, some in gangs, out pick-pocketing, intimidating & even robbing English fans at knifepoint (for phones & cash) whilst French police either weren't around or did nothing.

I experienced no issues post match but I have spoke to many people who did.

MP Steve Rotherham was also pickpocketed. And I spoke to a fan this morning whose brother lost his wallet within an hour of arriving on Friday.

Both of those were in St Dennis. Plenty of similar stories.

Been to a few major finals over the years and tickets checked a long way from the stadium and then often twice more the closer you get. Unfortunately, this sport has more entitled and aggressive chancers than most, which creates an even bigger need for stronger well organized security outside. Not like the stadium hasn’t hosted major events though so not sure why it went so wrong. Maybe the lack of planning time but you’d think they’d be used to it.

Seemed to be a lot of local kids spoiling for trouble outside as well.
