Politicians .....never believe them! 20:51 - May 31 with 2615 views | BanksterDebtSlave | https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2022/may/31/boris-johnson-dishonesty-k "And it brings us to Starmer’s leadership campaign — that is, the means by which he won the confidence of sufficient Labour members to place him in the position of potential prime minister. Last week, it was reported that Starmer is likely to abandon the party’s commitment to raise income tax on those earning more than £80,000 a year: that is, the top 5% of earners. Yet, during the leadership campaign, Starmer issued a document known as the 10 Pledges. The first of those pledges — still live on Starmer’s website — under the heading “Economic justice”, is “Increase income tax for the top 5% of earners”, driving it home with a final flourish: “No stepping back from our core principles.” Such was the Starmer campaign’s emphasis on this pledge that one of his key aides personally rang me up to underline its cast-iron nature." Suck it up... But whatever happens next, ask yourself truthfully: if you care about Johnson’s dishonesty but dismiss Starmer’s, then do you really care about dishonesty at all, or do you just resent being on the receiving end of it? And when you answer — unlike Britain’s two leading politicians — try to be honest. [Post edited 31 May 2022 20:54]

Politicians .....never believe them! on 09:47 - Jun 1 by GeoffSentence | How do these sort of decisions work in the labour party? What will matter is what goes into the manifesto for the next election. Does KS decide that? Or can he decide not to include that pledge unilaterally? |
They were his personal, “trust me I’m a lawyer” pledges as leader. And utterly dishonest based on his words and actions since. Johnson is more brazen in his lying certainly. But that’s who he already was. Any road, we need much, much better. If these two are electorally the only game in town (and indeed a product of our awful, antiquated political game), then we need a new game sooner rather than later.

Ah yes the lies and disingenuousness of Starmer that only you are clever/enlightened enough to see? Johnson lied to Parliament and the Country about Brexit and turned a blind eye to the subterfuge of Putin. Starmer upset a few on hard left by quietly dropping some of the manifesto pledges that saw their worst election defeat since 1935. Hardly an equivalence.

I don’t blame you for not knowing or caring about Starmer’s rank dishonesty, his anti-democratic authoritarian streak nor the empty inadequate policies Labour are weakly triangulating around. But perhaps do some reading before dismissing criticism out of hand. With your characterisation of Starmer’s leadership failings, I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt that you haven’t been following it rather than are wilfully trying to misrepresent it.

Politicians .....never believe them! on 01:12 - Jun 1 by BlueBadger | Whta's the solution then Banksy? It's all very well going 'boooooooooo' because nobody matches up to your ideals(and no-one will do that - your man Jezza is just as incompetent and happy to hang out with bigots and dodgy regimes as Tony Blair or Boris Johnson, btw) but at some point, you've got to stop playing sixth form edge lord and live in the real world. Is “the real world” the one where you consent to handing power to people who barely represent you and without your interests at heart with a little x in a box every few years. Roll on the day when 50+ per cent can either vote NOTA and/or abstain. Ps…Jezza was never my man but the movement for a meaningful new direction gave a brief moment of hope. Congrats on joining in to slap it down!

What policies are you "for" and how do you envisage those policies being put in place in England? Say on; Taxation, Transport, Utilities.

Politicians .....never believe them! on 09:17 - Jun 1 by giant_stow | You sound like someone who can afford to wait for 'perfect', but also go on about 'middle class' perspective, all while voting for Brexit?!!! Cake eat it and a cherry on top. |
You would be very far wide of the mark Ulla but there is a limit to how much of my past I want to divulge on here. Let’s just say that most of it has been very ‘basic’ but then I have never been driven to acquire financial ‘wealth!’ Remain was always the comfy middle class vote so not sure what your point is there?
