Has anyone ever travelled to Ireland via Ferry? I know there's a route off the west coast of Wales but that's a trek from Suffolk innit. Are there any others that people would recommend? Been over to Ireland many times but always flown, and quite fancy the car over this time so we're a bit more independent and don't have to fanny about hiring one.
There is also Pembroke Dock to Rosslare by Irish Ferries, I did that overnight once, they turn the heating in the lounge off and everyone curls up on the seats to reduce the amount of area through which warmth can be lost.
I did an overnight booze cruise to Cherbourg once and they closed everything at about 1 but left a Cindi Lauper greatest hits cd on repeat, quite traumatic by the end.

Bet your true colours were shining through by breakfast

There was a time I was doing the Dover - Calais run; you know, put in a beer & wine order in a couple of hypermarkets and then shoot up to Belgium for an hour whilst they sorted it out.
In between I would catch the Sunday night P&O bucket from Felixstowe to Zeebrugge.
One night the water was a bit rough and after doing our best to drink the bar dry my mate spent much of the night in the toilets throwing up.
Somehow he'd managed to fall asleep amongst his own mess on the floor and woke early next morning covered in his own vomit. And I mean he was covered head to toe. He must have rolled around in it along with the rocking of the boat.
We managed to buy some replacement clothing on board but boy did we get a wide berth everywhere we went.
Like no one would come near us. I was obliged as he was my friend but even I had to sit a couple of seats down.

Wow! Andy, Helen an Jaz are all very good friends of mine. They would be the people I know best of the ex bus dwellers around here.
Great stuff, all the more reason to get over which we have planned to do for ages. Did you know her former partner Daz too? Miss Slave has known her very well since they were 17 and our daughters are the same age and good friends too. Small world!
I imagine Andy is still hard core @narcho!!
