Flights are really expensive this year 09:56 - Jun 14 with 2482 views | StokieBlue | It's been noticeably more expensive to fly long haul this year, however 71000 GBP for an economy ticket to Rwanda really is a tad on the expensive side. SB

Flights are really expensive this year on 13:37 - Jun 14 by Swansea_Blue | Enough of having a humane asylum application process? As others have said, it depends on what we want to stand for. We take in numbers of refugees WELL below the average for European countries. So we're hardly swamped. Most are young and have the potential to contribute to society if given the opportunity. They're just seeking a place to live where they're not threatened. I'd like us to treat such people with dignity and given them opportunities to work and contribute, even if their application is ultimately unsuccessful. [Post edited 14 Jun 2022 13:37]

I mean, some people do have a strong reaction to hearing an accent on Norwich road and then decide the whole country is inundated with foreigners.

How’s about treating these asylum seekers with some empathy, humanity, education and filling some of these job opportunities. The huge cost of deportation and the lengthy process involved would surely be better spent in giving them a new start both in the short term and the future and be a huge benefit to the economy. Simple really, but the political will hasn’t been there for years nor is it likely to any time soon.
| We have no village green, or a shop.
It's very, very quiet.
I can walk to the pub. |

Flights are really expensive this year on 10:19 - Jun 14 by textbackup | Appreciate that’s a hefty cost, but where do we draw the line and say enough is enough? Country is on its arse, can we just have a constant steam coming here and we are the required to house and feed them all? I don’t know the answer, but know somewhere along the line something has to give, doesn’t it? |
I’m guessing a processing centre in France might be the answer . You never know a legal method of applying for asylum might actually work - especially as something like 90% of applications are successful The key problems seems to be the lack of infrastructure and refusal to let people work - but we can’t have HS2, give £15 billion to fraudsters, waste £19 billion on unusable PPE and do the basics.
