Yes, heaven forbid we help to support a local non-league team with a money-spinning friendly that'll give them a record crowd, whilst making sure we don't over-do it with our players after a week of training.
Additionally (and I'll admit that I don't know too much about Needham Market and their level), I'd assume that there's only so much that can be gained by playing an early pre-season friendly against a part-time non-league side. It'll be great for them to be playing against L1/Champ quality players, but after an hour or so I'd imagine it stops being so fun and becomes a bit tiresome as Burns skins you for pace for the 26th time... Potentially the hour may be something only agreed between managers this week. I've been involved in pre season friendlies before where games were changed the day before after the managers agreed to it. It could an ipswich request it could be their request considering its the first one of both sides and both probably just want minutes in the legs of those available. | |

They do this a lot. It's a common pre season thing where the game time is altered. Especially in the first game.
Then later in pre season there'll be a game with two one hour matches instead of 45 minute halves etc etc. |  |
