I have just driven back from up north and I do a lot of thinking whilst driving.

I take quite an interest in politics and there is nothing better than a blue on blue fight to the death, rarely does one witness such savagery, it really is quite remarkable.

However - I bring you grave news. Truss will win this!!!!

Penny will beat anyone in a head to head, that is an absolute certainty. But, I guarantee you that the men in black will launch an “Anyone but Penny” campaign. Lord Frost kicked it off this morning.

This is how I see it -

Kemi will hoover up Bravermans votes but she isn’t quite strong enough for the semi final so Kemi’s votes will ultimately end up with Rishi or Truss. Rishi’s supporters know full well that he can’t beat Penny so if it looks like she might get into the final two then some will switch to Truss in order to make it a Rishi v Truss final.

The only chance Penny has is if Tugyhat backs her but I fear Ready for Rishi’s very slick team will be offering him Foreign Secretary as we speak.

On a one to one though Truss will crush Rishi.

This is a fecking disaster and I will remain politically homeless.

Yeah, she was a magician’s assistant when she was at Uni.

Obviously I’m not as shallow as I portray, if you want to be serious I would like a woman PM, I think they are often more suited and don’t have that macho thing going on. She would also be quite a curve ball. You should read her book!

Ultimately though, I think she is doomed. Braverman has just come out in support of Liz Truss. I cannot believe that Truss is even being considered, she is as thick as pigs and has no charisma, like it or not that is very important and has been since Blair hit town. Her voice is upside down, she speaks with no confidence and she walks like a robot.

I would half accept Rishi, he’s plainly a chancer who has been engineering this ever since he became the star of the mens toilets since furlough - but I do think he has a brain and although I’m a small tax person I do think we need a tax rise in the short term to stabilise things.

Truss is talking about treating covid debt as a war type debt and paying it over the very long term, that’s ok when the interest rates are low but they are going to hit the ceiling - and in any case she nicked that idea from David Davis - and IMHO it’s no longer doable.

The thought of that imbecile in charge is actually really depressing me.

I thought this earlier.

Braverman will declare for Truss. When Keri goes she will declare for Truss. TT will declare for Mordaunt but it won’t be enough.

It’s crazy - and when you think about it it actually makes first past the post the greatest sense. The problem with all this 2nd vote sh1t is you get tossers coming through - and if it were the norm in GE’s you would have to accept a whole load of extreme feckers into the house.

Despite all your put downs on here you obviously know about the ins and outs and I ask your opinion, do you, like me, think that Truss has got this nailed or do we have a chance?

Personally I think Tudyhat is going to defect to Rishi - the only chance we (I) have is that a percentage of the lost candidates votes go to Penny.

This could be a great opportunity to move forward but I fear that the ERG are going to block it and in turn kill themselves.

They have gone from political walk in the park to obliteration in less than three years.

What is most noticeable is the number, and type of Tories who are 'sitting this one oit'. For good reason.

The sh itshow about to hit the UK has barely begin, and only a fool would now stick therir head above the parapet. Best left to the nutters, is the thought.

And nutters they are. From Badenoch (tomorrow belongs to me) Truss, unable to read even a script, Braverman whose only noticeable feature is her determination to keep up the fine tradition of odious Tory women.... Thatcher, Currie, Widdecombe. Dorries' Sunak, billions lost through fraud and Penny Dormant who has achieved about as much as a one legged man in an arse kicking contest.

None of whom, seems to grasp why more competent colleagues have gone to ground, but instead are convinced (deluded) enough to think their incompetence is just what the country needs.

For opposition MPs and voters it does provide for fine sport, but as for competence, it is up there with the time Kettering FC appointed Gazza as their manager.

I think that Truss will appeal to the members the most if she is up against Rishi. If it's against PM then I think PM will win.

The members voted overwhelmingly for Johnson, and despite Sunak leading in the members polls up until his wife's tax affairs became public they will never forgive him for starting the ball rolling that lead to Johnson's resignation.

Good line from Daniel Finkenstein in the Times yesterday about the ERG…

“ the [Tory] right will go on electing leaders and feeling betrayed by them for as long as there is a gap between what they expect to happen and what is remotely likely to happen.”

Everyone should realise by now that the ERG are as unappeasable as the left of Darth Koont, nothing will ever go far enough, there is no basis in reality. They are blowing the Tory party up and don’t realise it - a long time in opposition is required because the party is in an absolute mess, similar to the Republicans

Harry.

I think you are one of the best posters on TWTD

Your impartiality knows no bounds.

You are quite obviously a scholar of politics but …….

"the [Tory] right will go on electing leaders and feeling betrayed by them for as long as there is a gap between what they expect to happen and what is remotely likely to happen"

that needs to be amended to

the [Tory] right will go on electing leaders and feeling betrayed by them for as long as there is a gap between what they were told would happen and what is possible

much as were Ashton to say he was sure Town would win the title by winning every game - highly implausible, but possible

whereas were he to say we will get promoted, meaning we will be in the Champions League 23/24 - that cannot happen, it's a lie

and that was the huge flaw in the guff brexiteers were told, and willingly believed (see ex Lowestoft MEP Munnery) - set aside the fact that both Farage and Johnson were known liars, would it not have been within the capability of brexiteers to actually read up, and grasp that they were being lied to, or was it that they did know but had other reasons for voting brexit, hence the bleat "project fear.... baa baa" which meant they could not be accused of ignoring evidence as they had not read it

if I tell you I have some magic beans that can grow gold - who really is at fault, me, or you for being so stupid as to believe an obvious lie ?
