I'd say the opposite. We've got lots of good options for both those forward positions, at least 7 you'd be happy enough to see making 20+ appearances, plus 3 promising youngsters to try. Left wing back we've only got 2, seemingly no youth players on the verge of the first team and one of them we're clearly not that happy with.
It's also a really key position in how we play. |
Take your point but for me we have Leigh, Penney, Burns KVY to cover 2 WB positions plus JD who can cover the right and El Miz and maybe even Edwards in a pinch.
I don't disagree that we have good options up top but only 1 of those is an out and out striker for me. Equally none of them constitute that AMF with a defence splitting pass so for me those are priorities.
If a LWB comes in that's all well and good too, no issue with that but Penney is still perfectly good back up to have in L1 |  |

I have a feeling that the EADT stated a few months that McK didn't like the "inverted full back". |
Kane replaced Penny on the left yesterday but with Leigh sick I don't suppose KM .had much option . He did look lively when he came on . Maybe it's worth a mention that Penny could easily have had 2 assists yesterday with some better finishing . |  | | |

I’m really bored reading OPs like this. It’s a lazy social media age comment. It’s one opinion, meaningless without any further comments or data to support.
If you are an Ipswich supporter and you know L1, it’s obvious we will need a squad. The season is relentless. Why create negativity around single players, it’s a team game. Whether Penny is first choice, back up or moved out remains to be seen. He hasn’t downed tools, he hasn’t asked for a transfer, he hasn’t brought the club into disrepute, he’s an Ipswich player therefore gets my support. |

Sounds like Leigh and Ball will be back in training on Monday, so good chance he doesn't play next week (or possibly ever again).
That said, for the remainder of his time here people should get off his back. It never helps anything, he's not that bad and he's doing his best. |
Too many on here who maybe have never even been to a game
Penney has been forgotten about but has had a good pre-season and trains really well
Not bought for a million though so won’t play!
