If they play Sweet Caroline at Portman Road this season I will run onto the pitch and carry out a dirty protest on the centre spot.

I’m just not having it.

I understand people say it’s not a football song, it’s a song ‘owned’ by another club but in reality it’s latest iteration was adopted by the nation for the Euros. I don’t find it offensive, there were times when the whole of PR sounded like it was singing as one, that’s not a bad thing right?

Yes we could do with finding another song that most people know and interact with, it all contributes to the feel good, or perhaps folks really do like the dull droll of songs that only a few people want to sing, like those about Delia.

Similar if we continually to be referred to as Tractor Boys. Hardly inclusive in this day and age and apart from that - just an awful name.

I would honestly the whole stadium sit in complete silence for 90 mins and then leave rather than having to hear that song playing after we win. Its atrocious.

As someone stated above, play EEJB

Hate Sweet Caroline, no relevance to us as a club, but still can’t help joining in.

Also hate Tractor Boys…. It started at Brum away when they sang “No noise from the Tractor Boys” in the late 90s, then reappeared at Elland Road in September 2000 (the game during the fuel strike) when they also sang it after they took an early lead….. however we came back to win 2-1, and took great delight in singing “2-1 to the Tractor Boys” and it stuck.

Outlived its novelty value by about 20 years. See also Tom Hark.

I didn't know it came from Sky. I first heard it an away match at Birmingham City. Home fans singing 'no noise from the tractor boys' as a derogatory wind up (same as 'pasty boys' for Argyle etc etc). But then we scored and hit back at Birmingham fans with '1-0 to the tractor boys'. Anyway, that's the first I'd ever heard it and always thought that was where it started...but I'm probably wrong!

I seem to remember it differently; the away fans used to chant "where's your tractor gone", we'd respond with "ooh ar ooh ar", we'd then take the lead and chant "one nil to the tractor boys". That was ages ago and I can't pin it down to a specific game. Also I may have got it mixed up over time!

I have a framed page from the evening star. saying

"Watch out Europe the tractor boys are coming"
Not sure of the date but the sponsor was Green king on the shirt
Is this the first time Tractor boys was used by the local paper?

Don't mind Tractor boys myself, but on the other note Sweet Caroline can only be sang well by the Irish fans and an American teams fans. We should have our own song not just jump on the band wagon of any other teams song.
