This is just horrible, why are victims who were given HIV and hepatitis 40 years ago being given 100k in compensation?

Their lives have been wrecked through no fault of their own, they should be getting 10 or 20 times that sum at the very least.

Shameful stuff, I'd say it's insulting, their suffering is only worth 3K a year.

Isn't it just an interim payment?

There are concerns that the families of the deceased won't get it, though. And why has it taken so long for them to get anything?

It was vetoed at the time by J Major because I believe he thought it might set a dangerous precedent for other claims against NHS

A truly despicable act by someone who I thought was an honourable man

Notwithstanding his pecadillo with the demented egg-woman

Your occasional reminder of the Iain Banks 'sweetcorn' quote here.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Family friend recently passed away after being given bad blood. Lovely guy and you'd have never have known he had HIV. His latter years were rough though as complications arose. His wife was a saint throughout.

I'm surprised they are still alive! if given HIV back then i'd have thought the treatments would have been nothing like they are today.
