Perversely, looking forward to the Pizza Cup this season... 08:38 - Aug 23 with 3795 views | BlueBoots | Chance to get some key players returning from injury up to speed, some minutes into players who we may need to bring off the bench in the league, and some first team experience for a few youngsters. Would be good to progress this year (maybe even - finally - a trip to the new Wembley) - I'd enjoy watching a team like this against Northampton: ----------------- Hladky ----------------- Edmundson - Keogh - Burgess Agbaje - Ball - Harper - Penney ----- Edwards - Humphreys ----- ------------- Jackson -------------

Perversely, looking forward to the Pizza Cup this season... on 22:25 - Aug 23 with 957 views | BigCommon | I'd quite like us to win the Pizza Cup. In an ideal world, we'll be out of this league , never to return. And won't play in the competition again.. Be nice little thing, to just tick it off as "completed it". We all know it's not a glory competition. But if we did do well in it? Cheering your team on in a Wembley final. Would be a day to remember. Especially for our younger supporters. Who have seen very little in the way of success.

And the last English team to win at Old Wembley - thanks Germany!

Perversely, looking forward to the Pizza Cup this season... on 21:02 - Aug 23 by IpswichKnight | It would be peak Ipswich to draw Crawley in the Semi and lose while they go on to play Accrington in the final while Blackburn and Colchester reach the play off final leaving us alone on the list. |
Nearly right...Blackburn and Colchester will get to their Play-Off finals, we'll play Accrington in the final of the Pizza Cup - Crawley Town are going to the final of the Carabao Cup...

Perversely, looking forward to the Pizza Cup this season... on 21:42 - Aug 23 by Stewart27 | I feel we say things like this every year. This season we’ve already lost to Col U at home with our cup team. After years of nothingness in cups there is nothing to suggest this year will be different. Couldn’t care less about them and just want to get out of this god forsaken league. |
Getting knocked out of cups early hasn't helped us get out of the league

If we got there, I would go as I would love to see us play at the new Wembley. However, the best thing about this competition is the hope that we might never play in it again if we can only get promoted out of this league. If our U18s get to play in it and get to Wembley, then I would probably go and watch them there. But it would be nice to get to Wembley in a proper competition sometime instead.

Didn’t Chelsea win the fa cup after the playoff win from us?

100% disagree. I genuinely feel McKenna can take us to the premier League. Lay down a marker in his first full season with us - a Wembley win and storm to promotion. And, while we're at it, let's have some prem team at FPR for the 3rd round of the cup. Really see where this team is at.

Nope. FA Cup final was 20th May. Play-off final was 28th May. We were the last team to win at that ground.

Any changes of heart about the tournament after last nights result? Positives: KMcK getting to tweak our usual system, solid debuts for Keogh and Ball, clean sheet for Hladky and the team, goals from 3 of our back 4, Humphreys showing he's not out of place in the first team, Edwards and KVY showing they're well over their injuries now, our regular 9s / 10s getting another 45 minutes on the pitch together (and in Harness's case a couple more goals) and Ladapo off the mark for the season. (And generally, more minutes into the legs of players who haven't featured as much this season) Negatives: Injuries to Chaplin and Aluko. And I don't think we should go overboard on those negatives until a) we find out how serious the injuries are, and b) we find out whether we sign another attacking player before the end of the transfer window (and even then Edwards, and possibly Humphreys, made a strong case last night to fill in for our No 10s) [Post edited 31 Aug 2022 7:28]

I refuse to acknowledge that glorified pre-season friendly as a competitive match, although egotists such as Ferguson & Mourinho count it as a major trophy...

I don't like the tournament and I don't like that we're in it. Did we learn anything at all given the standard of the opposition? I'm sure Arsenal U21s will be a tougher game. That last sentence makes me hate football.
