Next manager likely to be Dyche, Allardyce, Pulis, T-Rex, Stegosaurus or some other dinosaur.

Shelton has Zarkas for post-boozing munchies.

But still wasn't a patch on Royal Valley in Stoke town centre, just by the Wheatsheaf.

It's been a long time so my memory is hazy but for eats University Pizzaria, Brunchies, college Rd chippy (can't remember what it was called) and plenty of decent curry houses.

Clubs and bars, Harry's, Valentinos, Sugarmill (£10 all you could drink Sat nights) there was a ridiculously swanky rock/metal bar by the bus station that most of the other students used to avoid, the Terrace, the scream, which I think is now knocked down) think there was a liquid when I was there and various others all up Hanley duck. The Rigger too and the pub near the bottom of Hanley Park, opposite a take away.

Poll: Will Phil ever confirm we are actually close on a signing ever again

Sounds an ideal job for Mick to me. Seems they want Joey Barton, however.

He's not going to get another Championship job after Cardiff.

Sunderland given Neil permission to talk to them over the role. Sunderland forum in meltdown and well worth a read

(very delayed) payback for Alan Durban.

When we were there, we had;

Pubs around the uni / Stoke;
The Roebuck (which turned into Scream and is now knocked down)
The Merry Tippler (which turned into the Fawn & Firkin, they sponsored our economics football team, and is now knocked down.
The Terrace (sports teams stronghold)
Grays Corner in Stoke (sponsored the uni football team)
The Corner Cupboard in Shelton (I think they got into sponsoring teams after I left)
Talbots
Harry’s
The Glebe (N40 stronghold on match days)

Hanley;
The Place (main club student night on a Monday, Labatts £1 a bottle - then refurbished and included Rosie O’Brien’s Pumphouse)
Valentino’s (other nightclub that cleaned up when The Place was being refurbished)
The Foyer
Minstrels
Yates’s
Old French Horn

And others I forget now, a lot of the doors in pubs and clubs in Hanley were run by the N40.

Yeah the scream was thr roebuck 1st, pub quiz on a Sunday night.

Forgot about the Fawn and the Glebe! Glebe was decent if I remember. We lived in Hanley above Mr Rs which we always thought was a front, not helped by our landlords giving us welcome to the property kush. Drank in the albino quite a bit that year.

I vaguely remember the place but my uni days are bit of burgh esp after so many years.

Values was a nightmare, was it down on festival park? No where near anything else. 2 quid Vodbull nights IIRC.

Loves the terrace because the lasses that ran it would always put the cricket on for us and pretty much any game we wanted to watch.

Satchmos was alright too thinking about it

Vali’s was on the road down to Festival Park.

Festival Park itself was good for the cinema (although there was an old one on the way into Hanley) and also the snooker club, which as it had a different licence could stay open on a Sunday afternoon and show the football… we’d often go in and have half an hour of snooker and then three hours in the bar watching the match.

Don’t know Albinos or Satchmos, they must have been after my time.

The Albion, not Albinos, bloody autocorrect.

We used to play snooker all night for 8 quid at Rileys.

Satchmos was bit of a funk, soul, beats kinda vibe but I can't remember where it was.

Sugarmill was establishment of choice though, proper dirty little sweatbox, saw the Libertines there before they broke out
