Managerial dominos......will Brighton come knocking for KM on 12:52 - Sep 7 by C_HealyIsAPleasure | I don’t think it’ll happen, but if Brighton did come calling, in what world would his best option be to stay here? That sort of response may apply to a struggling Championship club but not a stable established and forward thinking PL side currently sat 4th(!) in the table Quite frankly, he’s be mad not to take it I think the point is moot anyway as expect Chelsea to go for a name, and even if it is Potter then Brighton would go elsewhere (agree with those that think he’d be loosely on their radar though). I also don’t find this kind of speculation tedious either - if anything it’s quite refreshing to have a manager that we risk losing rather than one we can’t wait to get rid of! EDIT: just seen the news that Chelsea have been given permission to speak with Potter, hopefully my other prediction that McKenna wouldn’t be Brighton’s choice is more accurate! 😬 [Post edited 7 Sep 2022 12:54]

His 'best option' doesn't necessarily mean his 'best option financially' or his 'best projected career option'. I don't think he's that kind of bloke. I think he has more integrity than that, and values finishing the job and doing what he set out to do.

I have no response to that if you can’t figure it out yourself. On the possible link to Brighton I’d be very surprised if Brighton would make a move for McKenna. Far too early for him to get a move like that.

It’s his best option as it’s a markedly better job I don’t think it would display a lack of integrity or loyalty either. McKenna may well have those, in fact I think he does, but he’s also no doubt highly ambitious and will want to progress to the highest level, and we’re not talking about a mid table or struggling Championship side that Ipswich could surpass in the next year or 2, but an established PL side that we’re years off becoming. Ultimately it would be too good an opportunity to turn down It’s almost certainly a moot discussion as the chances of him being offered the job (if it even becomes available) are slim, but anyone that thinks he wouldn’t go if he was offered it are living in a dreamland IMHO

It appears to be Irish citizenship information but I'm not sure how what you've shared is relevant in disproving him to be a British Citizen given he was born in London to Northern Irish parents. Happy to be corrected though.

It is the obvious next step in the progression, but he'll be there for a year, two tops, no matter how successful he is, because the first time he goes through a sticky patch he'll be gone. Plus Chelsea fans will look down their noses at him because he's not foreign and hasn't won the Champions League with Swansea & Brighton.

Different people have different best option criteria though. It's not always about money or prestige. It may be the best option for someone to stay in a lower paid and/or lower level job if they put more value (for example) on the satisfaction of doing what they set out to do in an environment in which they enjoy working. I think the description 'best option' is subjective, and only the person themself can know what their best option would be.

A small section of people do that, yes. Those different people don’t tend to be ambitious football managers though, and the job in question is a very attractive one in what appears to be a very positive environment

Postecoglou the favourite to replace Potter if he goes to Chelsea, apparently.
