He is as far as we’re concerned
Managerial dominos......will Brighton come knocking for KM on 12:45 - Sep 7 with 1316 views | MattinLondon | Take away the blue glasses and KM is a young promising manager who hasn’t achieved anything in terms of titles etc. If come Christmas we are in a very promising position then I still doubt if he will leave here. If we are promoted then I think he will get a very very good budget to transition to championship standards. If by Christmas 2023 we are doing well in the championship he could well be tempted to a middle or higher PL club but until then it’s not something to think or worry about.

Managerial dominos......will Brighton come knocking for KM on 12:29 - Sep 7 by Ryorry | These speculations have been done several times before, both with specific clubs & generally speaking. They're getting very tedious. The answer is always either "no", or "he's intelligent enough to know that his best option is to stay here & take us up". |
I don’t think it’ll happen, but if Brighton did come calling, in what world would his best option be to stay here? That sort of response may apply to a struggling Championship club but not a stable established and forward thinking PL side currently sat 4th(!) in the table Quite frankly, he’s be mad not to take it I think the point is moot anyway as expect Chelsea to go for a name, and even if it is Potter then Brighton would go elsewhere (agree with those that think he’d be loosely on their radar though). I also don’t find this kind of speculation tedious either - if anything it’s quite refreshing to have a manager that we risk losing rather than one we can’t wait to get rid of! EDIT: just seen the news that Chelsea have been given permission to speak with Potter, hopefully my other prediction that McKenna wouldn’t be Brighton’s choice is more accurate! 😬 [Post edited 7 Sep 2022 12:54]

Why Pochetino? Hardly a serial winner is he? 2 years in France and only won the League once. Amazing though isn't it, Boehly gives Tuchel £200m+ to sign who he wants in the transfer market, to then sack him a week later.

Always thought Potter a good 'barrier' between big Premier clubs and McKenna... on 12:56 - Sep 7 with 1251 views | unstableblue | ... a similar technical and progressive manager.. am sure his training sessions are as modern/challenging as our managers BUT, let's be honest McKenna is some way off having the credentials for even the Brighton job.. he needs a League One promotion and a run of results in the Championship before he fully goes on the Premier League radar And you could say Ipswich is a bigger club/project than Brighton, Palace, Bournemouth, and Fulham (albeit they are all in the Premier League!!) BUT... and it is a worry, a club may well be ready to take a complete punt, based on rising stock and reputation [Post edited 7 Sep 2022 13:03]

One of the key things that will determine the success of GameChanger regime is having a proper succession plan in place. The best run clubs like Brighton, have a clear defined strategy and they build the clubs structure around that. That means if the manager is poached by a bigger club they have a list of ready made replacements who can come in and continue to implement that strategy. I really hope, after years of hiring managers on their downward curve, that we will continue when KMcK leaves (hopefully a few years away yet) to hire progressive coaches. If the club can develop itself as an attractive place to come for the best young coaches in UK/Europe then we should be able to find the next KMcK and continue our upward trajectory. Ashton strikes me as a man who covers all these sorts of details so fingers crossed this is already in place. [Post edited 7 Sep 2022 13:24]

Managerial dominos......will Brighton come knocking for KM on 11:51 - Sep 7 by homer_123 | Now, I rate KM based on what we have seen so far but do you 'honestly' think KM will be on their list? As a manager, he has spent less than 1 season in charge of a L1 club and so far has no achievements to show....with no disrespect to KM, I would be extremely surprised if Brighton would have him on their list. What he has achieved for us - is huge as a Club but within the wider world of football it's insignificant. [Post edited 7 Sep 2022 12:34]

I think you'd be surprised. With his experience at United he's definitely on peoples radar.

In the last sentence, doesn't the 'he' refer to Boehly, and isn't that why they weren't talking?

Managerial dominos......will Brighton come knocking for KM on 12:28 - Sep 7 by clive_baker | It's very naive to think McKenna isn't on the radar of just about all of the 44 clubs above us in the pyramid, he's one of the hottest properties in English football and one of the brightest young British managers. Of those 44, there's probably 10 that wouldn't back themselves to poach him from us like Coventry or Wigan, and the 'big 10' that would, rightly, not see him as remotely appropriate at this stage. Of the 20 odd others between mid table in the Prem and mid table in the Championship I would think he would be peaking interest, and I would put Brighton firmly in that bracket by way of club size if not current league position. People talk about Potter being young, he's got 11 years on KM. McKenna has a very impressive CV, through Spurs, to United winning the title with their U18's, into the senior fold and assistant to Jose Mourinho at 32 years old, for arguably the biggest club in the world. Whether Brighton actually move for him if they lost Potter who knows, but they'll certainly be aware of him and 'on a list' of sorts. FWIW I don't think Chelsea will take Potter, they're more likely to go for Pochettino IMO, he's available and it feels like a good fit for him. |

You mentioned McKenna as a British manager. It’s possible he sees himself as Irish and not British. It doesn’t make much of a difference but just thought I’d mention that point.

The club were approached in the summer for him and the enquirer(s) were told where to go.
I know it’s a bit of a novelty having an excellent manager who we don’t want to lose, but let’s just enjoy the season!

Guess you would have to ask him what he sees himself. He's a British citizen.
