An obnoxious, manipulative individual who clearly should be in prison but also an indictment of a media ecosystem (both mainstream and beyond) that thrives on 'bantz', wackiness and outright abuse of others.

Andrew Bridgen living down to his usual standards too.

I was reading the original Times investigation about him by Ben Ellery a little while back and remembered I went on a stag do with Ben about 10 years ago, seemed a good guy - listening to him on a podcast recently he now has to almost be in hiding with his family for exposing all this (guess par for the course for investigative journos) which is mad to consider for the bloke dressed as Sergeant Slaughter on a wrestling fancy dress at a rugby 7s weekend...!

We really, as a species, need to stop making hate so profitable.

A few posters last night were thriving on bantz and abuse of others. Apparently you're a boring old fart if you don't think it's acceptable. It's a real shame that the world has progressed this way over the last decade or so and there seems no easy solution because the polarisation is just too engrained.

As for this case specifically, he's an awful individual and a case study of everything that is wrong at the moment. The fact he went virtually unpunished for a decade is a farce.

Social media companies need to do far more here, for instance, there is no reason why YouTube should be keeping his channel open.

Probably should have guessed that that thread wasn't going to end well when it opened with someone citing the opinion of a nazi to support their point.

No surprise to see Hopkins enabling and encouraging the abuse. Let’s hope Bellfield gets some corrective punishment in prison which will help him think about what he’s done.

Astounding reading. Partridge meets Richard Ramirez with all sorts of behavioural oddities thrown in.

Hopefully he is taken for every penny by his victims too.
