Seriously though, how on earth did Truss end up PM? 19:57 - Oct 14 with 2370 viewsDubtractor

It was obviously to absolutely anyone that she was ill suited beyond all comprehension and would be miles out of her depth, and yet about a third of the parliamentary party, who will have seen at close hand what her skill set is, somehow decided to back her.

Then following that, the members, who you'd assume follow politics to at least some degree, compounded that remarkable decision by voting for her.

What on earth have these people seen that made them think that Truss was in any way capable of being PM? I can only assume that the parliamentary party viewed her as a useful idiot, someone to try and push through the policies that they knew would be unpopular?

I find it genuinely mental that we've ended up here, no doubt a laughing stock around the globe, with a PM that makes Johnson look half competent.

I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun. I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.

This is an entertaining read on the few nutters who still support her.

“A favourable view of Liz Truss has now become one these weird polling anomalies, the kind of opinion you know it is possible to hold, in theory, but which, in practice, you can hardly believe anyone believes. According to YouGov, more British people believe the moon landings were faked.”

You have no idea how much this is depressing me. I posted on here when she was an outsider that she would get the gig, it was obvious. I don't really think that Rishi lost because he was brown, it was because he stabbed Boris and because he was going to raise taxes.

Rishi and Truss loyalists engineered Mourdant out of it as they knew that neither of them could beat her head to head.

It is ridiculous that the vote is put to about 150k blue rinsers, it's off the bloody scale!

Mother is not a member but is 100% Conservative with a big C and I told her that Truss was a joke and that she didn't have a brain. She then asked why I thought this and I asked her what of her policies she liked and she said that she didn't know of any of her plans and policies but that she liked the look of her.

It is a big clusterfeck and we are doomed. We simply have to pray that she is nudged out.

My mother is a Daily Mail reader but says that she doesn't allow it to influence her political views.

She voted for UKIP back then and described Farage as a breath of fresh air.
She thought that Trump would be a great president.
She still thinks Britain is full and immigration is to blame. (She lives in a small Suffolk market town)

No, of course you don't mother.

It all comes down to the Tory mindset.

It is essentially sh*t yourself and blame the pants. Then repeat.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

Don't think she's going to be PM for much longer, Tory MPs opening saying she has to go on TV.
