Burgess’s distribution? 10:35 - Nov 8 with 4145 viewsDarth_Koont

Seems to be accepted by many that Burgess isn’t as good as other CBs on the ball. But I’ve never got that. To me he is easily as good and certainly our best at LCB.

He’s not as quick or quick to turn as the others but that’s more about his size – and he makes up for it as a commanding aerial presence.

That’s also no disrespect to Edmundson. I think he’s done well on his “wrong” side. But I think Burgess just edges it.

Pronouns: He/Him

That's excellent. Teams could deliberately recruit twins so they could play a different one in each half.

Was thinking more for a lower level than Town. We did have identical twins in the youth set-up years ago though, Matt and Kenny Weston. Never made the first team though.

I dont agree and think he is as good as any of the others albeit he has different skill sets. The strongest in the air which is where we have struggled of late and a natural leftie.

Plus he is as comfortable on the ball as Fridge who I would start him over as it gives us better balance.

Did either of them partner Tommy Smith?

Neither of the Tommy Smiths.

Is he the first Town player to play a game wearing a mask?

Murphy broke his nose against Fulham, but don't think he wore a mask other than training. Seem to remember Cundy did at Spurs for some reason.

You'd have thought with COVID someone would have left one on by mistake but....

Automatic selection?

Amazing where a injury break and a good performance against a tier 7 side gets you nowadays.

We've lost one match whilst he's been out so this seems a pretty hot take to me.

He's competing for selection but automatic choice?

or you could say burgess hasn't been on a losing side in the league or even dropped a point when he has played

Well that's ruined that potential puntastic partnership

Context though, if you look at the thread posted by Makin I've outlined how that analysis is far too simplistic.

He's not played against the better teams and he's played far less matches. The clamour for Burgess on here is excessive in my opinion given the evidence.

It's shocking isnt it. Some people have different opinions on players and have a preference for some over others. How very dare they.

And that's fine.

You however posted an "analysis" of Burgess and it's perfectly acceptable to point out what's wrong with it given it was an analysis and not an opinion

I've repeatedly said Burgess is a great option and I'm glad we have him, I just don't agree with some of the points being made or your analysis.

Well it Is Still an opinion isn't it. As the purpose of the OP was to share my personal view that Burgess wouldn't be a downgrade.

My point in the previous reply about views was because again you say people clamouring for something. It's not clamouring imo it's just some feel we aren't quite strong enough with the current partnership in place.

Be sure to send your analysis for peer review before going public would be my advice to you.
