Think if you reversed that ,74.2% didn't vote, you would be close to the mark.

Young Americans are not good at registering to vote, and even if they do don't bother to vote.

I've seen it said it's a record high for midterms.

Not sure if that is also true for presidentials.

While final figures are still pouring in, it is estimated that 27% of young voters aged 18-29 cast a ballot in 2022, making this the midterm election with the second highest youth voter turnout in almost three decades, after 2018.

Good work Jeera. Inspirational isn't it.

The true inspiration is that there is so much voting potential that could be mobilised. The depressing thing is why it is so difficult to mobilise it. This is the same in this country.

‘Youth’ vote including people up to up their 30th as well. Blimey, they’re not very engaged are they?

I presume postal voting is an option if you don't want that inconvenience.

It was, along with early voting as my local library was open for about 2 weeks before the day and well publicized on the local tv news channels

That's shocking to me, I had no idea it was so low. That age group have got so much to lose if we don't get immediate change. You'd think key influencers (apologies for that expression) musicians, actors, etc. etc. with a conscience would be doing everything they can to get that group out to vote.

It's crazy how such a big chunk of the human race are asleep at the moment.

I hate to generalise but I get the impression that America isn't the most enlightened when it comes to these things.

I have seen pro-Trump supporting types among the youngsters which confused me, thinking they would be the most forward-thinking among the population, but there ya go.

Funny old lot really.

Suspect they just don't want to accept responsibility for the outcome. Much the same here.
