Pretty compelling/grim stuff, albeit no huge surprises. Impressive that they managed to get a number of the key players to speak to them, but slightly disappointing that they didn't make more of that opportunity.

Blatter reminded me of some old Nazi camp guard accused of war crimes but claiming total innocence of any wrong doings.
Wherever there are huge amounts if money to be made, there will be hogs with their snouts in the trough. Really no surprise. How many times has a stench surrounded the location of the WC? Money trumps all these days, perhaps it always has. Adidas didn't come out of it too clean neither. |  |

Unfortunately, overwhelming opinion is not evidence that can convict him. Either he has been far too clever in covering himself or he was, indeed, innocent whilst those around him took the wonga. I know where my money would be on that one! | |

It was never the evidence that was lacking, but Swiss law that essentially allows bungs and kickbacks etc. It was only after the USA lost their bid for the 2022 World Cup that the Feds got involved by pursuing the ExCo members under US law, which they could do because the wire transfers were denominated in USD and went via NY. What went on previously for years between ISL and FIFA was in CHF, which might have been an embarrassment to the Swiss authorities, but was untouchable under Swiss law. | | | |
