If as many believe our squad is too good for L1 22:13 - Dec 2 with 1630 viewsgtsb1966

and i fell into that category, how come we can't beat these so called mediocre sides. Forget injuries, we assembled a squad to cover this. So the squad is good enough but....

We aren't particularly clinical in front of goal, that's a league one trait for sure

We play decent football but are incredibly wasteful, I'm not sure what the answer is to that

We have far from the best strikeforce in this league, I don't think anyone would argue with that

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

Apart from the Humphreys chance what did we create in the second half?

Your last paragraph is what so many people commented on before the season started. Turning out to be true.

We have a habit of starting well (apart from last season) then fading...
Think we just fulfil the fans expectations of mediocrity. Football is just a business now, I wouldn't let it get to you. Find a hobby and focus on learning new skills. Football will ultimately leave you disappointed

Start well then fading - most like the opposing manager adapts tactically and McKenna doesn't have the knowhow to counter it.

Surely you and other Town fans have come to the realisation that regardless of how good a team/squad is, it's what they do on the pitch that counts. The best teams dont always win the league or get promotion. We supposedly had championship quality players like Bialkowski, Chambers, Judge, Huws, Dozzell, Downes, Sears & Skuse. Were we able to get promotion with them in our side, no not even close. Even if we don't get promotion this year I think we are definitely moving the right direction, especially given how poor we have been in the last few seasons.

2 in 50 minutes then. Or 3 if you include Jackson’s shinned effort from Burns cross.

While obviously it's not a bad squad, we don't have enough match winners. We don't really score goals out of nothing or from distance. Even when we're at full strength I feel like that.

People won't like it but Celina was that match winner at times last season and it's a great great shame we couldn't pull off his signing.

We did indeed build a strong squad - but you can’t build a squad for the amount of injuries, for the length of time, all at the same time in the same positions - it’s been freakish to say the least.

Ball, Evans and Camara for CM
Harness, Aluko, TJJ all as pocket players

You can’t legislate for that, if you just add copious amounts of players in the summer you just end up stock piling them with an over inflated squad.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but you can’t plan for the circumstances we have right now.

But....................

We signed Camara injured

We played Ball in a game 3 days after he had an injury v charlton.

Harness and Aluko injured during PIZZA trophy games...

We haven't helped ourselves.

We’re not clinical enough going forward, and not as good as we think we are at the back.

For the most part, our issues in defence is because they're consistently put under pressure from midfield. I think as a solo unit, our defence is good - especially with Burgess alongside Woolfenden.

Careful, I got slaughtered last week for suggesting that not much has really changed since last season. It's the same pattern all over again at the moment - all possession and kicked in the nuts because we can't kill a game off.

I don’t think the system works at home against the attritional or highly defensive teams at home, for me with would try a central 3, with one really creative midfield. And Chaplin off Ladapo.

It clearly works very well away when teams are obligated to play a little more, but the glaring answer is we need to score more than 1 in these games to see that out, and for me little is created centrally.

The only Muff in Town.
