My number 2 key on my keyboard should be '' when I used the Shift key with it, but it's returning @ instead. And where the @ is meant to be is returning "
Also number 3 should be £ sign but it's giving me a hashtag #

I may be wrong, but it sounds like you've changed the keyboard to USA lay out somehow? Must be under settings somewhere. |  |

That's USA I think, my Mac keyboard is like that. Oddly I can jump between UK and US mostly seamless these days. Although I have spent 10 years working on both.

Pair of legends, thank you kindly for your replies. It was set to US, also explains why the date formats have been the other way around today. No idea how it happened but have changed it back now. | |

As above, you've changed your keyboard layout.
Assuming you're using Windows, press Windows Key + Space and it should start cycling through them. Stop when you get back to the UK layout.
If you want to remove the other language altogether then go to...
Settings -> Time and Language -> Language.
Under preferred languages, there is probably more than one language. Just remove any you don't use.

You've accidentally pressed alt+shift and set your keyboard to the US layout, press alt+shift again to toggle it back to UK |  |
