Broadband + tv + landline + 2 x mobile sim’s what would I pay in UK 14:10 - Dec 15 with 3315 viewsearlsgreenblue

Just renewed my MEO contract here in Madeira for 24moths, a summary of what I have is broadband on fibre, 500mbps down + 100mbps upload, HD 4K box 200 channels, home landline free calls in to Europe & UK from 21.00 - 09.00 7 days a week, 2 x mobile sim’s 3500 mins & 3500 sms + 7gb’s data per phone per month at 41.88€ + IVA (VAT) per month, how does that compare with UK price’s nowadays?
Be interested to hear what others pay for a similar service abroad?
Regards, Marcus.

That is cheaper than I currently pay for 30MB Fibre To The Cabinet, with free UK landline calls and with only minor bells and whistles like call guard and anti-virus software thrown in.

I pay about £80 / month for a similar package with Virgin Media / o2. Main difference is only one sim card but it is unlimited mins / data / texts. Package includes Sky & BT sports + Sky Movies.

Pretty happy with the value and Virgin is great when it works which is most of the time but useless when anything goes wrong. Also got shifted from a Virgin Mobile sim to o2 (Same terms) at the last renewal a few months ago and so far not impressed with the o2 coverage in central London.

Cheapskate £16.99 35mb

2.99 unlimited calls texts

Probably £100 if you bought a similar package here in the UK, although I’m out of touch. 30MB internet and a phone line with free calls costs me nearly £60 with BT. TV would be another ~£20 and then you’re looking at £10 for a similar SIM. You can get a bit cheaper if you shop around. So what’s that now? About €115?

Bet your energy bills aren’t £250 per month either.

That sounds a lot to me Swanners.

Are the included landline calls necessary, what with mobiles?

My broadband is around £24 per month [60/65mbps] which serves my needs fine.

Sim only mobile contract is £6 a month.

I don't know what's available on the TV packages as I have more than enough to get on with using Freeview topping up with Netflix and sometimes things like Paramount on a use and cancel as and when basis.

And ifollow of course, but buying per season that's crazy value.

Unless its Virgin Media, you wont get close to those speeds of the internet and the other bits and bobs here for that sort of money - about £50 alone for the broadband and tv from Virgin

Hi Swansea, energy like everywhere else has got up, my average electricity bill is around 80€ a month, that’s allowing for my pools air source heat pump up until around November then it’s off until March. If we need heat I use a wood pellet 10kw stove at 9€ a bag & that’s between 3-5 days per bag, pellets have doubled in price this year.
LPG hi pressure propane for bbq & outside kitchen burner 28€ a bottle (15kg), LPG off a common supply in street is 22€ a month heats water + kitchen hob.
Give you an idea, oh & housing tax is 600€ a year, that’s a third of what I paid in the UK.

Sim only mobile contract is £6 a month. ?

or £2.99 a month - unlimited texts, calls, no monthly contract

Yours is not too bad, there are cheaper ones with faster speed but it does mean a 12 month contract.

I am never than more astounded by what some folk have signed up to - mostly ludicrous TV deals that deliver mostly sh yte.

Boadband only allow you to have a landline that receives phone calls, but offers a pay as you go for outgoing, which you would not use as you have unlimited calls. And as the sims are so cheap just use a cheapo mobile as your house phone

Well yes per landline that's what I was saying. I don't need to use it for calls but it is a handy back-up an of course and extra means of contact for anyone who needs to get hold of me.

I didn't think the broadband was bad at £24 tbh for fibre. For the amount of use I get it's a remarkable bargain really and the one thing I could not do without, certainly more important than the TV.

Wouldn't have believed those words 20 years ago.

But at £2.99 a month for sim contract I'm all ears. I have a 2nd mobile which I only use occasionally so that sounds good. Who's that with Harry?

24 moths is a fantastic price. If you have trouble catching them, they are attracted to light after dark so should help.

I have 1000m down and 90m up with BT in a village of 650 people.

Plus free calls and free alexa on my digital landline.

All for 45 quid.

The only subscription I pay is youtube premium for 11.99

Everything else can be located easy enough.

Broadband (200MB) : £24.99
Mobile (Unlimited Calls, Texts and Data) : £6.48
TV (Disney+) : £6.67
No other TV Package or TV license, either watch it on catch-up or tend to watch a lot of YouTube these days.

I do sign up for Amazon Prime a few times a year when there are new shows and then cancel after binging

you can get it for £1, though only 1000 mins, which would suit a back up phone

https://www.lycamobile.co.uk/en/bundle/saver-plan/?utm_source=google&utm_med

not £2.99, apologies

£1.99 per month
https://www.lycamobile.co.uk/ucustomer/msm-1/?dtt_reqid=8439582

with facebook messengers, Whatsapp etc many are not neding to pay for phone calls , so the providers are grabbing whatever money they can, hence the low prices

M500 Fibre Broadband - £32

M250 Fibre Broadband - £24

As said, signing up to a company that lumbers expensive TV deals on top is a fools game.

And I expect some of the above broadband prices will drop a bit further in the new year

the thing to be careful of is signing up to 24 months, though that is what the best monthly cost require

And a note of success. Pointed a mates wifer (her car insurance) to a lower excess on her insurance. Took 5 mins jiggling around, but got it down to 0 for her voliutary and £100 compulsory. She had been carrying £350/£400 voluntary before/£100 compulsory Not a direct sving, but one you will notice if you do have a bump etc
