Ball in play - attendance scam 12:19 - Jan 4 with 5944 viewsFrimleyBlue

Now. This is an open question to those that attend football.

But do you as attendees feel a bit scammed out of some of the money you've spent when so much of the game is lost with ball out of play.

I read earlier that apparently Arsenal v Newcastle was something Like 46 minutes of ball in play.

As an attendee to that game.. is it right that you've paid out what you have to watch that....

It's an open question for all to discuss. I'll leave out of it from here as Its not really right for me to have a say when I don't go...

a niche perspective

It just makes football a more boring sport to watch. I hate stoppages when everyone knows there's a 99% chance there's no real problem. I pay to watch professional athletes do something I can't do, we can all pretend to be hurt when we're not.

The worst bit of time wasting in recent Ipswich games was when an opposition player was injured off the pitch and crawled back on the pitch to stop play. The red then allowed the physio to come on and didnt make the player leave the pitch. If you get injured you are supposed to leave the pitch to get treatment it's just bad luck that you have been injured

Most recent example: 57 min 23 sec of "dead time" vs Lincoln, with 48 min 37 sec of "pure possession" (12 min of that from Lincoln). Probably says it all ... not got time to go through a whole bunch but 57 min is most definitely on the high side.

Indeed, does illustrate the point.

Apologies if already mentioned - I have only read the first page of comments - but there are many variables in the entertainment and value for money football provides. Quality of football, competitiveness of fixture, atmosphere, quality of facilities, etc, etc. Ball in play is one part of that. Some of the other things are bigger parts.

That was ridiculous. The player should have been booked for re-entering the field of play when needing treatment. The physio should be allowed across the pitch to get to them and then play carries on with them off. Link this to the 3 minutes off the pitch minimum if receiving treatment too.

Other team sports have rolling substitutions with no stopping the game for them to take place. Why do we have to stop the game for them to happen? Then if a departing player takes forever to walk off, he isn't holding the game up at all.

Goal celebrations are a part of the game but stop the clock from when the goal is scored until the kick off is taken.
