Future away games - ticketing 19:41 - Jan 9 with 1837 viewslizzibee

After this mornings issues (sorry, still a bit grumpy but the beer I have just poured is helping) I sent an email to the CEO. I wont post the whole response as that would not be fair, but they have confirmed the number of gold cards does exceed the number of tickets on sale for Cambridge and they are also looking at a priority system for the remainder of the away fixtures. In my view this should have been a letter game and I think they realise it now, in hindsight. Pretty sure Cheltenham and Fleetwood will be.

More fans wanting tickets than tickets available. Fans don’t get tickets. Shock.

As much as today’s situation was a mess, they also need to be careful not to undermine the Gomd Card.

They are sold to give ticket priority, and if you take that away, you’ve charged £20 to people for a service they’re then not getting.

It's worked like this for Norwich before though hasn't it? Not sure the GC offers much priority when one needs to be logged in ahead of the sale time and time everything exactly right to make use of it.

If we get promoted it probably won’t be an issue next season.
As a Silver Club member marooned in Sussex, I used to do more away games than home games.
I always qualified for away games at Norwich as a result.
But this season that’s been reversed because of the increase in Gold Card members.
So even if they change the priority system, I’d still miss out because I can’t get away tickets even if I wanted to.
Unless, of course, they allow non season-ticket holders to join the Gold Card stampede or introduce an away passport.
My loyalty isn’t in question but unfortunately it’s not financially viable for me to buy a season ticket.
As I say, if we get promoted it will be less of a problem because the away allocations are normally fairly generous compared to this tinpot division.
And if we don’t storm the Championship in our first season, which in all honesty is unlikely, we’ll see a drop off in some of the interest.
It all goes in cycles. I remember having the same issues in 1992 and 2000 after our promotions.
I just get a little frustrated even if I do accept it’s a very good situation for the club.
I only hope the club plays fair with its members if we end up with a playoff final at the end of the season.

And add to that the inflation of gold card numbers by allowing those Pack Out PR points to be used for memberships.

Play-off final wouldn't be a problem. It would be the away leg of the semi-final where demand will massively exceed supply (the degree to which depending on who it is against - i.e. their ground capacity).

Exactly.

Always has been letters for small allocations and Norwich away. Even had letter priority for Arsenal away in the Carling Cup all those years ago, gold cards were a thing then as well.

I'd forgot about that - absolutely!
the club have said they like the idea of the Bracknell model, so I expect that to be applied for some future games (not MK obviously as we can have what we want)

Norwich games are usually a one-off, but to start doing that for every game will undermine the GC.

There is an away match passport, they’re now called Ultimate membership, but I think you have to be a ST holder to get one.

The ultimate is great but you have to commit to paying for all bar two games. I would love to do that but with me on my own and uncertain of the boys football fixtures when I need to get that means not possible. Hence why I got GC which in fairness has worked brilliantly. I have merely suggested some improvements to the club today

The thing with that is is easy to sell the ticket on instead on having to return it.

At 0958, which has been exactly the same situation for every away game this season.

I was refreshing from 0950, and got on to grab mine, got lucky. As did others.

It is what it is
