It is usually what happens when rampant, uncontrolled inflation leads to a country devaluing its currency and printing money.

About 350 out of 900 seats are normally left unsold on the first services between London, Paris and Brussels despite “huge demand” for the greenest form of international travel, Eurostar bosses said." Who could have foreseen that the UK removing itself from easy access for passengers and freight would lead to extra costs, delays and regulation ? Well, those who opposed the kunacy that was brexit could. Just as requiring supporters to have their passports checked and stamped at the turnstiles tonight would cause delay. I experienced that when I travelled to Brussels in October. There isn't even any real capacity at either end for the type of queues there are now because lengthy queues were not factored into the build at, say, St Pancras. With the way things are going, they would have been better to have kept the terminal at Waterloo, rather than spending all that money (£5.8 billion) on the link to St Pancras, as well as the cost of Ebsfleet and upgrading Ashford, both of which stations are no longer used and now look obsolete. I think you mean 'for some of the richest it worked out nicely' but for the country there has not been one sinle benefit, whereas there are daily accounts of some new damage it has caused Even the most deluded now only claim that some time in the future (never specified) there will be some benefits...possibly Meanwhile more brexit regulation and cost. ETIAS - British tourists will have to apply for a visa waiver to enter the EU for holidays that last under 90 days (£7) from Nov 2023 Brexit - the gift that keeps taking |
You’re complaining about £7??? Blimey. Things are tough. Cancel your Netflix for the duration you’re away and your problem is solved.

That doesn’t make sense because the cash is worthless so we wouldn’t be “rolling in it”. A down note for you in response to the one you gave me. Cheers.

I’m not sure whatever was done would make any difference. Eurostar was built on the basis of through traffic. For it to work profitability in the way it was designed a passenger has to be ‘processed’ in under 17 seconds. Not possible with border checks. The only way it can operate is the U.K. is being in the CU. The government knew this years ago. They were told. Discussions were held, it was raised at Select Committee. I went to a presentation by the owners in 2018 in a dirty great building off the Mall. I know how Eurostar and Eurotunnel operate, the staggering impact of traffic growth in the years up to Brexit and the impact of the madness being imposed since 2019. The government knew all about it. Part of the reason for not caring about Eurotunnel itself is that the tories flogged off the 49% U.K. stake in it for £2.50 and a packet of cheesiets in their everything must go policy. Eurotunnel will stop at Calais before long. Since it’s heading for the bin, you are quite right about the £billions hosed up the wall at St Pancras, Ebbsfleet and Ashford. Added to the billions wasted will be tax payers money passed over to the French in compensation. The people owning Eurostar/Eurotunnel are as litigious as it’s possible to be. Can’t say I blame them. Lets try it properly Pointing out another cost of brexit is not complaining. Perhaps if the weatherman was telling us it will be below zero, you will bleat out about him 'complaing'. The comment was pointing that far from being better off as the brexiters claimed this is another way that we will be worse off. There, that wasn't hard was it ? | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Much as here "But more than six months after completion, this heavily guarded supposed showpiece of a newly independent Britain lies all but deserted. " Unused because it spite of the idiotic bleat "control our borders....baa baa". But the regime of rules it was built to administer has never come into force because of U-turns forced on government by the dawning realisation that trade operates better without friction Gosh, thats what those naughty Europeans are enjoying while they laugh at the UK - in it's isolation it becomes cut off from Europe and the world https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2023/jan/21/giant-brexit-border-control-sit Slowly, slowly the UK is shrinking back into itself, and as the tide recedes it is exposing these huge costly mistakes. One of which will eventually be the now obselete HS2 So far from delivering these mythical benefits, trade deals and money for all - we are seeing more costs, regulation and watching an ever shrinking economy Why didn't any one warn us.................................they did

Ah I see, thanks for clearing that up. So you’re satisfied with the £7 levy then? If you’re not satisfied about it and you’re airing your view on it publicly by making a point about it as a negative, then you’re complaining. There’s no news here, just another scratch around to Brexit bash. We get it. It’s a well trodden conversation. Get your piggy bank out and enjoy a holiday. I really hope your passport is up to date though as that’s going to cost you a staggering (per-Brexit) £85 to sort if not.
